Everyone goes to the Old First Ward it seems. I think it depends on the car, a luxury car shouldn’t go there for a shoot, it doesn’t seem right in a gritty environment.
If you’re taking pictures of a Kia or Hyundai, you could always go to to the dumpster in the back of the flea market - where those cars belong.
i guess it’s not really where you take the pictures, but how…people with a small strobe setup can do way better in a random parking lot than someone who just parks their car in front of a pretty building and turns the camera to auto and expects good results.
anywhere in the downtown area isn’t bad. just drive around and if something catches your eye, pull over and try it.
get off auto
get a tri-pod
experiment in manual mode until you’re familiar with shutter speeds, ISO and f-stop.
Your grain is coming from a high ISO. In order to shoot in lower light with a lower ISO you’re going to need a slower shutter speed/bigger aperture size (smaller f-stop #) which is going to get you blurry pictures unless you’ve got a tripod or much steadier hands.
Go to Grand Island and drive around the outer road. You’ll get to where you see Niagara Falls, ON in the back ground. Find a place to just pull your car up on the grass around there and snap away. You have the water, grass, trees and sky. The curb that you drive over is slanted a bit so your not destroying anything in the process.
Keep in mind the 2 examples for you are done during sunset and I was lazy and never took my flash out to shine on the side of the car to get it to come out more. But just suggesting it to you.
If you are talking about my post. They were taken at the same time of night and at the same location. One with the sun to my back, the other shooting toward the sunset. love that location though.
