hey guys i am looking to do some work on my 1992 silvia this winter and one of the things i would liek to do is get a BOV installed… I was wondering what is all needed to be done to get one and which size i need… oh and my SR20DET is totally stock. nothin has been done yet.
the loudest of course … get a HKS SSQV type w00t … it “demands” street cred but of course they are only for highly modified cars and not recommended for stock vehicles
hot pipe with flange and get a bov that you like
what bov you choose i would recomend to recirculate it, all you need is a flange to mount the bov on and a reciradapter which will allow you run a line back to ur intake
ok so i have heard the sound of the Greddy Type R on my friends turbo prelude and i love it! I went to a store by my house and they asked me what size of BOV i needed… I was like ummm i dont know lol i felt like a total idiot haha anybody know what size of that one i would need?
You dont need a size, You get a BOV…then you get a flange…then you weld the flange to the intercooler pipe…then you bolt/clip the BOV onto that flange…then you hook up a vacuum line…then you drive…
you have a performance car shop by your house?
i think they were asking for a wastegate size,(http://www.greddy.com/products/display/?Category=turbo&SubCategory=19) but your car is internally gated, so tell those guys they are retards lol. make sure you get the right flange for the peice you are welding it onto, ie - FMIC aluminum piping, you’ll need aluminum flange. if its going onto the stock hot pipe, which assuming it is, get a steel one!! i know it sounds kinda of self explanatory but i see it alllllllll the time a shop will sell someone the wrong flange just to make a few bucks, and then the dumbass who didnt think about it has to spend another 40 bucks for a new flange. ANd you cant run a type r BOV, it doesnt open until 1bar…usually for cars making over 300hp, which a stock sr is not even close to… my $.02
isn’t the type r adjustable, i know the rs is
i am running a type R on my z31 with only 8psi, obviously its not opening all the way, but its still very loud.
type r is for higher boost… just get an rs and set it up right.
type-r is best …such a nice BOV but it is for higher boost applications
lol get a sheep dog bov by prof. sound godly. or an old school ssqv cuz the new onesa re extremely rice gay and same with the greddy type r’s. the type s (if you can find one) sound awsome to.
but i agree with whatever scott says to. lol (even tho i didnt read it and hes probebly poking fun). bahahaha
