http://www.n-e-c-c.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2882 This could take care of our engine problems!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!! LOL I need it!!
Oh come on Jay! Take one for the team…
So how are we raising all this money? Our n-e-c-c payments? Cause if it’ll promote the club, hell, I’m all for it!
Actually, its all donations. The membership fees go into running the site, running events, etc.
Since we are a not-for-profit society, its probably not a good idea that we spend the clubs money on a car that we use… well that is if we had money to burn!
Actually we’re going to spend every cent of the club’s money on the car. In fact, the NECC address book thread is so I know where to go to break into joints and raise more money.
I’ll become a pillar of the community when my car is done…

ha ha ha
aluminum is for pop cans not blocks suckers !!!
suprised i didn’t see him say that.
well i do have my ca18. finishing the head gasket this weekend and putting everything back together.
I say we go for the ca18det, common these little basterds are awsome, slap on a gt series turbo (like a gt25) and it will be awsome for track use.
but a ka-t is a good option, if you blow the motor its not like you can’t pick another one up for $200
I think parts commonality is important for now. Next year when more cars equipped with SR20’s are imported and the parts availability gets better, we could look at selling the KA-T and upgrading. The only prob with the CA18 again is the parts availability is not as good.
actually parts for a ca18 are easy to get. 99% of the parts from the ca18de swap over to the jdm ca18det.
but i think that the ka-t is a good choice
I am not directly involved with this car at this point, But I would like to say that personally. I think the $1900 would be far better spent on a suspension and wheel/tire combo for your race car. While having gobs of HP availiable is nice, its also the reason so many of you guys are ending up pointed in the wrong direction at your autocross events.Unless the goals that I was told about have changed and its becoming a drag/drift car now. Also if you keep the engine close to its origional format the car will be classed in a much lower catagory and will likley do better in a real compedative enviroment like a ASA autocross for example.
Thanks for the info, Mike. I think the idea is to keep it as more of a general track car instead of building it for one specific purpose. The slant would obviously be towards lapping/autox instead of drag or drift, of course.
If you needed proof that suspension is important, Flavio’s 240sx set a time of 1:12 at the hotlap with a mostly unmodded KA - the fastest turbo 240 was 5 seconds slower. Obviously driver is important.
Ouch that hurts
When are you picking up my engine??
He he he, sorry Rob.
I’ll come get it sooner than later. There isn’t much time left in the season for me, so about another week and a half to two weeks.
