Which is the best way to paint speakers?

I have 4 floor standing speakers with Cherry Wood color/finished. I want to paint them black. Which is the best way to paint them and what kind of paint to use? Also thinking about getting some black vinyl to cover them instead of painting them. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

umm are they for you living room or some where nice… i would just say rattle can depending on how nice and how expensive they are

It’s for my living room. They are Polk Audio R50.

i used a spray can for mine, then redid the cloth covers like a year ago. they look pretty good. i can snap a pic for ya in the AM

  1. Scuff with scotchbrite pad to make the paint adhere better.
  2. Paint.

I’d say a rattle can; although you’ll have to be really careful and make sure it’s even coverage. I’m almost gonna say you’d get better results with a roller though.

Get Rustoleum For wood paint… works awesome, but it will chip off if knocked… just an FYI

Pay someone to spray them with black lacquer if you want the best finish. I’d suggest Baumgaertner Furniture on Genesee near Union I think. Otherwise take everyone else’s advice and mask and rattle can.

Thanks guys! I will call the place and ask for a quote. If it’s not too expensive then I will have them do it. Else I will do the rattle can
