Which manifold for S14 KA-t ?

Hey Guys I’m preparing to turbo my 98 Ka motor. ( 59 000 kms) Any suggestions for a suitable budjet manifold? Revhard too pricey. Has anyone used Autochrome manifolds ?

Please clarify in your reply if you have personal experience with Ka-t setup but any suggestions would be appreaciated.

check out ka-t.org for all your kat needs

You can buy a Revhard for fairly cheap. I saw one on FA or KAT.org

^Get the Revhard like Gonad said, it’s not very good to cheap out on your manifold, especially since there isn’t MUCH of a difference in price between cheap and expensive ones. From what I can recall, they’re cast, so you’re gaining a decent bit of reliability by having it.
Edit: not equal length runners, was thinking of another. But cast iron manifolds are awesome, you won’t have the same problems with cracking that you would on the stainless ones.

Like Gonad said theres one for sale on KAT.org for $250 US i think, cant beat that price no matter how cheap youre looking.

$210USD shipped = $240cad

Comes with a downpipe too.

Depends on the turbo you wanna run, I’ve never seen a KA T2 manifold that wasn’t tubular stainless.

Hoping to use a T28 turbo initially and eventually use an adapter flange to switch to a T3 turbo when the rest of the set-up is complete for about 300 hp.

whatever you do dont buy a ssautochrome or anything like it. get the revhard or a copy of one.

stainless style manifolds suck for everyday abuse, get cast iron.

here is a brand new replica of a revhard, it is the same unit it is just not stamped as a revhard unit, i talked to the distributer of these and they are made in the same place.

i have been using this manifold for a year now and it works perfect.

Yeah ^^ thats your best bet, if you cant afford that sell your car or forget modifying it till you have some cash.

The revhard is real nice, but as I said above, if you are using a T2 flanged turbo, your fucked.

if your going turbo you should be using something bigger than the t25’s and t28’s that come on the sr’s

worst case is you can drill and tap the holes on the manifold as it already has a t3 and t4 foot print.

How about a GT28RS or GT2871R? Pretty big, I think. And internal wastegate is good for a starter setup since it makes for much less piping.

i dont disagree that tubular stainless manifolds are not as reliable for long term use as the cast revhard or similar manifolds but i know many people that are using tubular T2 manifolds on KA’s with no problems.

the only person i know to have broken one is jesse and he hit a curb at 60kph and crushed his downpipe.

i use this type of manifold on an SR with well over 20,000km’s with no issues.

however, i have seen cast T2 manifolds for a KA before, i am sure they exist somewhere.

Any thoughts on using a flange adapter to allow use of the T3 turbos with the T2 manifolds?

Thanks guys this is proving to be most useful.

i have a rev hard manifold for sale with a t3 flange, that i would be willing to let go for 170 shipped. let me know if interested.

This is the revhard were refering to, what you have seems to be any other log manifold.

Since when did RevHard make that manifold?

Looks more like a JGS manifold bult from a kit (and ceramic coated) :dunno:

I was thinking the same thing, mild steel its obviously mig welded NOT tig, and ceramic coated.

that would make sense…i think it may be a jgs manifold.
