Hey everyone,
Most people know of the demise of my past rims, so now I’m looking to purchase a new set. I’ve narrowed the hours of searching down to two rims.
I’m not fixed on these rims.
It’s just what was easily available to me in a short period of time.
I’m looking for only Chrome right now. Deep dish… actually “big lip”. Deep dish usually refers to zero offset or lower with a massive lip.
My price limit originally was around $1000. After I saw how unrealistic that was, I decided on $1500. I don’t really want to go over that, so it will work out to around $2000 after tire installation and everything.
My goal is to stay away from the “boy racer” styling. The second set of rims match that of most high end sports cars.
The first set would be boy racer, but the inside is actually very curvy so it doesn’t look as rice.
The white Z that you showed me seems a little too racey for me. I’m not sure but now I’m gonna look for something like that on a black Z.
What do you have in mind for places to go?
I went to rent-a-rim at Kennedy and Ellesemere twice and couldn’t find anything in there that I liked.
Oh sorry, and I forgot to mention that I don’t really like the oldskool styling.
It’s not me. Everything I do to this car is in the hopes of making it look more modern
Haha, I’m sorry for the old-skool reference, or the rice-esque cars, I was only suggesting the ‘style’ of rim, not the other crap loaded on.
If you’re looking for BBS/SSR and other rims, get a quote for Tirewerkes. They ship to your door, and can do rims/tire packages, with good pricing. Give em a try.
Take your time and don’t rush the process of choosing a rim-- They make or break the look of your car, choose wisely Mr. Popcorn!
Good luck! I’m sure others will chime in with their suggestions!

hahahaha, you’re a joker.
“Mr. Popcorn”
Yeah, I was considering Tirewerks but haven’t gotten around to getting in touch.
As for rushing, well I have no choice. I’m driving on 3 rims and a donut spare right now. I can’t drive on that forever. The tire is only rated for 80. When I do 100 it starts to hum, shudder and drift. When I do 110 I severely fear for my life.
For at least the next few weeks I have no choice but to be on the highway a lot.
Here as some options and available for your 300zx.
SSR GT3
SSR Comp H
Rays R2-7
We have many other rims available - but when you’re ready, please visit www.tirewerkes.com . And we also do suspension… so when you’re ready to lower your car… you know who to contact as well.
for sure, but this is the way I look at it right now.
If I buy a set of steel rims, then they’d have to be 16"
I’d have to buy the rims. All four and that will probably cost me $500/$600/$700
If I buy the nice rims, I can spend maybe $1500 and swap my tires over. I’ll have something that I’m not concerned to drive. All I have to do is clean it and I’ll have it that way for easily 3 years.
I don’t know. It’s a weird equation in my head and makes a lot more sense when I think about it rather than typing it out.
You’re making this a lot harder than it needs to be popcorn,
Go scout out a steelie from garages/bodyshops… what sizes do you need? I may be able to help you out.
I know FOR SURE, that bodyshops will sell you some cheap. My bud needed POS steelies for winter, and got em for $40 each from my cousin’s bodyshop. Just get one, and ride it out gAnGStA style until you get get a set of rims YOU want.
If you are going to spend money on nice rims, I recommend spending a little extra on steelies.
You risk more chance of rims getting damaged from removing and mounting tires from season to season. If it’s not done by an experienced tire installer, the rim lip could get bent, rim face scratched, tires not mounted / balanced properly, etc. It’s much easier to just have a winter set of tires and rims/steelies and a summer set. And wheel swap takes 20mins and costs nothing.
But in the end, it’s all up to your budget. By the way, we also sell steelies.
both of those wheels are too 'supa-kun ’ for my tastes. I’d say neither. get a set of 57c gram lights in grey as an entry option or a set of work Meister S2’s black spoke w/polish rim as a higher end chioce.
