Which whey to the gym?

Isopure is good, but has a aftertaste many may not like. I happen to like it, brings me back to the old school gainers I used to drink. Nectar is very tasty. Muscle Milk is tasty.
BUT, try to get most your protein from lean meats (tuna, chicken and turkey) and eggs more than supplements.

After the gym like Lafengas said, a protein shake is easy and whey is rapid delivery protein. Post workout I used to take 2 scoops of nectar whey, 1 scoop of DGC dextrose and 2 caps of R-ALA. The short version is the r-ala mimics insulin and enables much faster uptake of nutrients. Dextrose is sugar and also uses insulin tactics to deliver the protein to the muscle quicker. They have proven you have a short window (45 minutes or less) after a workout to get protein to begin rapid, optimal repair. So the quicker the better. Man I need to get back in shape. LOL.

I just go with a freezy pop or some sour patch kids with my shake then eat a large meal within an hour or so.

Ugh not that I would ever want to detract from the greatness of steak a protein shake will in fact be better after a workout due to the rapid absorption although after that steak is a great part of a post workout meal.

Goddamn that just made me really hungry. LOL.
Eat lean meats if you’re after protein…too much fat and cholesterol in red meat to get enough protein in every day.

Eating solid aka REAL food is best except post workout when you need rapid delivery. Shakes and bars really don’t use much energy to digest. So you don’t burn many of the calories you take in. Chicken for example is a VERY metabolic food and you’ll get loads of protein AND burn alot of calories digesting and utilizing that protein.

Pasta is a burden to digest. Dextrose is an optimum carb to blast the protein into the bloodstream.

if there are carbs in sour patch kids, i believe they may fall under the “bad” carbs category lol.

I eat tuna ALL the time with hot sauce or fat free miracle whip. I think tuna is the one food i will never get sick of.

You should probably learn a lil more about post workout nutrition brah. You want really high glycemic carbs post workout, sugar is fine. Many powerlifters and bodybuilders drink soda after a workout for this reason. What good is a low glycemic carb going to do in this case?
Friends don’t let friends spread bad nutritional advice.

HAHAHAHA!

I can honestly say ive never felt the need to take in sugar after any workout. I may have done it literally by accident but i havent seen any need at all for it. I usually have a shake, creatine mono, and possibly some tuna if im still hungry. I know some people will use dextrose and thats ok, but im pretty sure that using pure dextrose is a little bit more healthy for you than drinking soda or eating candy. Call me crazy.

So your feelings are better then facts? Not to mention these methods are the best for recovery and gains. Improper carb reload can cause irregular insulin causing FAT STORAGE and possibly DIABETES. Please do not spread the word that sugar is bad after workouts. It is in FACT what your body needs.

Edit- Seeing as you recommend dextrose over sugar really proves you know nothing of what you speak. LOL

I’ve been consuming 6 egg whites for breakfast and using some mid-range protein from GNC (I forget the exact type) immediately post workout.

Results will come from the nutritional intake, no matter how its taken. 1 gram of whey protein isolate from your drink will be the same as 1 gram of whey protein isolate from a powder.

The only difference would be the price we pay for that gram. And seeing as I just dropped $1500 on books this semester, I’m offering a cheap alternative.

Besides, it takes far more than just protein to build muscles. Proper carbs, fats and hydration are also necessary.

My pre-workout shake is usually whey, BCAAs, and a complex carb powder mixed with black coffee. During workouts I drink a water, BCAAs and an electrolyte mix. Post workout would be whey, BCAAs, sugar, and creatine to hold me over while I shower and prepare the post workout meal.

the very first link you posted showed an example of an after workout meal consisting partly of dextrose which is a monosac, which is sugar. So this is coming from a link you posted and recommended. I am not saying that i take in no sugar at all in my diet. im saying that i dont really rank it as being as important as you seem to be making it out to be.

And i am saying you are wrong. A fast digesting CARB like a SIMPLE SUGAR is indeed very important to post workout nutrition. The fact that you seem to think you can argue this is actually baffling to me. I fucking know dextrose is a sugar. I am not making anything out to be anything. This started when you told me my carbs were “bad” then I provided you a bunch of FACTS saying that they are GOOD in that situation and I even briefly explained how that works. Please for the sake of manfuckingkind and my sanity stop trying to argue this point. PLEASE! SIMPLE SUGAR OR ANY FIST DIGESTING CARB IS GOOD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A WORKOUT! THIS IS A FACT! LIKE PROVEN BY SCIENCE AND SHIT! I am not saying terrible things will happen without it but for you to come here and tell me its “bad” is 100% FALSE so STOP!

FUCK

when i said if thre are any carbs in sour patch kids i was obviously joking and i have no idea whts in them believe it or not ive never read the nutrition label for sour patch kids call me crazy. I will however tell you that i do take in carbs like neone else and i know where to get them from. I never said anything about not taking in carbs after a workout. I have never looked seriously into sugar or dextrose but now that you are yelling at me about it i guess i will read about it.

LOL don’t take it personally its just I don’t want bad info being put out is all. This is something that most serious lifters practice and trust me you are not the first person I have had this convo with. Sour patch kids rule!

i like skittles
