For X~mas I’d like to get my dad a bottle of wine. I know he likes red wine thats nothing sweet.
I know nothing about wine. I did do some searching but there are just so many terms and I just don’t feel like learning them because I dont like wine.
so does anyone here like that type of wine that could point me in the right direction? I’m looking to spend less than $20
Cabernet…some really good ones to find in the <$20 range…david bruce is a really good one that comes to mind, its about $15
Buy a couple bottles of yellow tail Cabernet Sauvignon.
It’s cheapish - but tastes great, very popular right now.
Red Cat. I love that stuff and every party we bring it to, not a drop left in the bottle.
+1
I always try to keep at least 2 bottles of that in the rack at my house.
Yellow Tail is hella cheap and tastes good… but since it is popular, to me, its like giving someone a Gift Card for Christmas… you didn’t put much thought into it.
I agree with the David Bruce, it is a good wine for around $15. I just had an amazing Cab a few weeks back… I can’t remember the name exactly, but it was Robert _____ and it was $14 for a bottle.
I prefer Cabernet Sauvignon/Sangiovese mixes. I looked at a few places around here, but couldn’t find any, but in NYC I became hooked on this as I ate in Little Italy frequently. Da Nico + Ferrara’s = a good night!
Robert Mondavi
Another one I try to keep on hand.
loses a little respect for jay…
go to georgetown wine spirits in willyville…
I used ot work there, and they have several cab/sangiovese blends there; just head for the italy aisle
buy him a bottle of my home made wine, i guarentee it will taste better than the store bought piss
my favorite wine is the one that comes in a box… Franzia…i think its called. Ill have to check my fridge. But i love the box cuz u can do box funnels with the plastic spout. Box wines makes me get jiggy!!!
Cheers!
Ha… like you had any to start with.
What’s wrong with Mondavi/Yellow Tail?
Ive got respect for ya! you got a head on your shoulders…
yellow tail adds fruit to their wine…I mean come on
mondavi is just kinda so so, nothing really wrong with it
Heron Hill - Eclipse - It is a cab franc, merlot, cab sauv blend.
One of my favorites from the finger lakes region.
I’ll keep that in mind for the next time the womanfriend is in town. Thank you, sir!
gerveritsameiner (sp)
or you can defaul back to yellow tail…
both under 20 and both very good bottles.
^ Gewürztraminer = Nothing sweet?
Go to Premier and start looking around. Unique and/or goofy bottles make great gifts.
Buy a bunch of grapes and an empty bottle and say…Get started
‘Cheap Red Wine’ is actually pretty good… but I think you can only find it at Trader Joe’s (or something). Funny story behind that stuff.
if interested my family owns a vineyard and winery on the niagara wine trail and could get u a deal on some stuff if u like.
