ok i work at circuit city and i just wanted to let u know, i dont know if its like this everywhere but we never really get the core systems anymore in stock, we have a bunch of premium xbox’s mixed together, we still have old one with out hdmi port. so if you want it make sure you ask and look at the box first. and hdmi are actually really expensive. i just see prices from circuit city but our cheapest hdmi from next tech (circuit city shit) is like $50 for 4 feet
I would wait for the current stock to deplete… this way you dont end up with a zephyr board and a 90nm chip like everyone else will. Late november early december and the falcon boards should be in full swing. Yes there are some floating around now, but its still a mixed bag.
nope… not all new premiums have that falcon board and chip… its a very mixed bag… they are trying to get rid of old xbox stock and this is the perfect time of season… Some people have been lucky enough to get them, but so far NO ELITES, some prems, and the most are comming in the halo 3 model. At first people thought it had to do with lot number and team and manufacture date, but there have been people who get a zephyr board out of lot for example 737 team fdou with a date of 9/22/07… they are just trying to get rid of old parts.
it will say what board right on the box:
The only sure way to tell if you got the 65nm chip and falcon board is to shine a flashlight through the side.
the launch board had 3 circular inductors standing upright
the zephyr had 3 laying down
pic of zephyr and launch
and the falcon has 2 laying down.
pic of falcon
I still dont buy in to all this hype that this is going to be the fix for the overheating issues… it has nothing to do with the CPU, its the GPU that is causing all the issues… Its overheating and coming off the board. But i guess in a few months we will see if these new chips and boards are going to make a difference or not.
