Whiskey & Bourbon thread

who is this noob?

mmmm Bulleit Rye…

Bump for PVW season.

I’m just getting started in this hobby. Arranged by order of deliciousness. I felt bad putting the Laphroaig below Dewars but it’s just too peaty/smokey for me. One of my friends described it as drinking 2 stroke engine smoke.

The Yamazaki 12 is delicious. I will post a shot of what I currently have when I get home.

The Yamazaki 12 is what I imagine rainbows and dreams taste like.

I’ve been meaning to update this for awhile. mmmm bourbon.

mmmm Blantons. how is that Jefferson Ocean? And the Hillrock - any good?

I haven’t tried the Jefferson or Hillrock Rye yet. The Solera aged was good, but definitely not worth the price. The Angel’s Envy is tasty as well.

The new Boss Hog is really tasty. Much better than last year.

My birthday haul.

honest opinion, is pappy overpriced for what it is? it seems it.

We talking about retail or second hand price?

I have read that a lot of people enjoy the 15 yr over the 23 yr, they feel that the 15 yr is the sweet spot and tastes best.

eh, i guess both. were you able to buy yours at a non-inflated retail price?

Second hand prices are insane for them, I personally would find it hard to justify spending 300+ in the second hand market for a 15yr. I did not pay inflated prices so yes, they are totally worth the price paid.

my laphroaig thing went off

VanWinkle is a little over rated no matter which price you pay. It’s not bad, I just don’t understand the hype versus many other really great bourbons.

My contribution, nothing like being a couple months late lol.

Just picked up the bottle of John Myer Rye which is made in Ovid (Finger Lakes) looking forward to trying that. Also looking forward to picking up a bottle of Iron Smoke which is made local, know one of the distillers. Just finished off a bottle of Templeton Rye (delicious) and Knob Creek not too long ago.

Excuse the crappy phone pics.

My first bourbon, recommended by the manager of one of our credit unions. I will be sampling more bourbons before I buy any more scotch because I really like this stuff.
