He doesnt do mandrel bent, he does crush
Didn’t know! I just know he does good work at very fair costs. :banana
He does do awesome work for great prices and time, he just needs a mandrel bent exhaust maker
I updated the first post…
yah all he has to do is come up with like 50grand and buy the bender. plus crush type bends arent as bad as you think. dave has him on his supra and needless to say it moves OUUUTT. i can see the benefit to mandrel bent but what is the actually gain. has any research been done?
all you need to do is look at the difference and you can see, it restricts flow
1,000 is a good price for a custom S/S header back. my roomate paid 1250 for a 3inch turboback, no cat, with a 3inch in/out dynomax turbo muffler with a 4inch weld on tip(N1 style). mind you the cost of steel was alot less 3 years ago also.
youve been brainwashed. the idiot at broadway told me the same thing. top performance companies would save time and money and sell crush bent exhausts if it didnt matter. each ripple in the exhaust causes turbulance in the exhaust flow, maybe on your moms ford windstar its not a big deal but when the volume of the exhaust gases are has high as a performance car, it matters… i guarantee his supra would make a good gain with a 3inch mandrel bent exhaust vs that pepboys bend
this inside radius on these bends arent wrinkle bends thats one step cheaper. these just have an indentation on the inside, and only if the bend is extremely drastic. and reguardless daves supra moves out.
A lot of places dont even use real mandrel benders simply because they are so expensive, some place fill the pipe up with sand or something that will keep the exhaust from crumpling under pressure.
OP: come look at my setup if you want, but I’ll put in a good recommendation for Inline. I bought pipe and mufflers and Dave made my exhaust.
thanks for the bump, but i gave up on straight line performance in my altima a few weeks ago. i sold the few parts i had and am now investing in the suspension then selling it ASAP for an e46 m3, a car that actually deserves a $1000+ exhaust (or in the case of the SS race muffler, $1,800 for a muffler ;D )
