Who Has Purchased a Plug n Play HID 9007 Kit?

Im lookin to buy a set for my GP and was curious as to who sells a “quality” kit.
A couple of GP performance stores have them and only cost roughly $200. Im wondering if the saying “u get what u pay for” applies here or if they are just cheaper now that everyone is running them.

TIA!

I got a 9006 Kit for my wifes truck and it is def true you get what you pay for. I got a Mccolloch (sp) kit and its been great so far. Whatever you get make sure the igniter is built into the ballast. Kits with the igniter separate from the ballast are very cheap and burn out the igniter quickly. I spent like $285 shipped. Go with a Mccolloch or Genesis kit. You can find them on www.hid-sin.com. goodluck.

I have a few friends who bought kits for their cars; one was a '90 Mustang, the other an '04ish GMC Denali pickup. Same kit on each and they look great! They’ve had them for about a year now…can’t recall where they got them from but I’ll try to find out. I do know they were about $200.

Don’t your car have reflector type halogen? You’re going to get crazy glare. Well if you’re still insist to get it, i would pick up a set of Denso, OSRAM etc ballast and rebased 9007 bulbs. From experience OEM ballast + rebased bulb is much brighter than the “hid kit”.

What do you mean by glare AVS? I’ve seen a lot of different kits with projectors, reflectors and I never really see a “glare”. Just curious what you mean.

theres a whole forum to hids im on, hidplanet.com they say to stay away from hids that arent an OEM brand because they will burn out after so many hours

Hey there is a group buy on a 240sx website. 170 shipped to ur door. Plug and play. Im gunna get some for my 240. From what i read there is good ratings. Here is the site.

Like blinding other driver because the light pattern is scattered all over the place with reflector-type housing. You can get away with Halogen-type projector.

FWIW: These are “designed” for my housing.
layzie: Im going to look into that info… TY.

Never heard of that. My friend has had them and they been bright for 2-3 years now.

i only will use oem brands. they last longer, are brighter and are much better quality. i have a set of hella ballast and ignitors with d2s modified forsale from a benz.

im running in my car e46 m3 clear lense modfied and color modified projectors with hella gen3 ballast and ignitors with 4300k d2s bulbs all retrofitted in my headlights. hidplanet.com is just lights and hids.

Yeah. If you can do a retrofit, it would be 12234723984792387x better. Just tossing bulbs in there is going to be absolutly terrible and look like shit…

ill be posting a DIY for all the steps probably during my retro fit and color mod of my projectors

Their are a few guys (actually only seen one) that did the E46 projector swap. He had to cut the back of the housing, make a adapter plate, ect. BUT, the beam/pattern was fuggin nutz. The way the Grand Prix light housings/capsules are designed…the fuggin suck, some guys that bought the retro HID bulb kits say it looks ~better~ but, still pretty bad.
If I can find all the stuff I need, maybe I’ll do projectors…I got alot of time right now

im not sure if fuggin nutz is bad or good but ill be posting pictures in the net week or so of my set up

fuggin nutz= ~the sex~ then

im hopeing i get some serious color from my color mod. well see soon tho
