Does a wood burning fireplace count as turning the heat on?
55 at my house…not turning it on
Most of the time any job that is more than an hour that cannot be done in a heated garage is put off until spring.
I have done numerous oil changes in the driveway when it is < 20°F out…you get used to it.
Why would you guys not be comfortable and turn it on. is this like a competition to see who has the most manliness.
Yup; although I’ve not done oil changes; just emergency repairs to get the vehicle to/into a heated garage… but that’s what Carhart’s are for.

I don’t consider it a competition. However, I don’t mind waiting a little longer in the season to try and save a little cash. In the dead of winter I usually have my heat at 70° because I like to stay warm. I do turn it down at night though.
Manliness has nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with my gas bill.
space heater in the bedroom is a go, however the furnace is not on yet.

Wat? I do lots of vehicular repairs in the driveway all winter. But then again, I’m a heavy equipment mechanic for a ski area so I’m used to being outside all day everyday.
The snow may give me a hard time working in the driveway but the cold won’t. I just throw on a few beer jackets for the really cold days. It’s the hot muggy days that keep me in the house, I can’t deal with that shit.

yea heater has been off the whole time and i come home this morning after handling some business and magically its blasted at like 100 degrees. ghosts? and its a turn knob to turn it on and off… weirddd

gf’s family turned on the heat, why i have no clue, i cant fucking breathe now in my gf’s room, to muggy and warm, this is the time of the season sleeping is the best! its not bone cold and its not humid as fuck! so keep the damn heat off at night and stop wasting money!
