fuck i think im getting sick. my heat might go on this weekend.
My house was 58 when I left this morning. I don’t care if it gets down to 38, the heat doesn’t go on till November 1st.

I’m working on my attic ventilation.
My roof is missing 3600lbs of shingles that were helping keep some heat in. (and that’s only half)
I hope to fix that this weekend

It was down to 63 when I left for work.
No snow yet… I still have some work to get done on the house… after that, it can start snowing all it wants… I’m ready for boarding season!!!
Wife turned the heat on yesterday, and i gave her a hard time! My gas bill(budget) went from $120 per month to $250 per month! WTF!? I guess that is what you get with a house with no insulation and a 1970 heater! The kicker is the house is only 1000sp/ft!! Its got newish windows… So that is not too bad.
I’m need to get up into the crawl space to attempt to put some insulation in the attac if possible. I gutted the kitchen last winter and that is the ONLY room of the house with insulation! Infact my garage has MUCH more inuslation than my house does:cry:
This will be a COLD winter if i can’t get much insulation in the attac. House was 63° before i went to bed last night, and that was down stairs and it is warmer down there than upstairs! My house is SO F’d when it comes to HVAC.
Oh well i guess that i will wear snow pants ALL winter in the house:mad:
I still have not turned on my heat. Also no space heater or fire yet.
My house has baseboard heat so it does not eat up my $$$ too much. I flipped it on last night for a half hour to get the temp from 60 to 70 then shut it off. The best part is that it has 3 zone heat so I only turned up the heat in the bedrooms.
OT - Does anyone know of a good service guy for boilers?
Just scheduled an appointment for a 92.1% efficient gas furnace which should save me loads of money over my 20+yo maybe 80% efficient oil furnace. Gets installed Thursday so after that (and NYSEG gets their ass around to turning it on) the heat will probably be on.
i had frost last night
Turned the heat on for like 5 minutes to make sure there was no issues when I cleaned it and such.
Otherwise, fireplace was running Friday/Saturday for a few hours each day… I forgot how damn hot that thing gets after 2 or so hours when the ember bed gets going… And it seems that removing the carpet on the 1st floor actually made it warmer with the fireplace!!
I’m out. Ran the heat Friday after I cleaned the furnance and part of the day Saturday.

thought about it last night when i got home having forgotten to close the balcony door, but then I forgot about it.
