like… i… said… when jugs was buying the s14 i have now lol, recoil took jugs for a ride in it before we left. he had just bought it, gutted it completely. ask him, he’d be your best bet.
we have two S12’s at my shop right now and the shop manager Dan also owns one. We’re the un-official S12 authority in Ontario.
One of them is the only S12 in Canada to have a KA in it and the other will be the only S12 in the WORLD to have an FJ20 in it… the third one has a CA18ET.

1987 200SX (S12 silvia)… did NOT come with an FJ20 in north america.
The S12’s that did were early 80’s models known as gazelles.
it came with modified versions of the original FJ from the R30… our S12 is getting an FJ from a skyline, which has a better intake and exhaust manifold that produces more power and torque.
the FJ20 came in the DR30 skyline
and like mike said, it did not come with the CA18DET either, but yes its a popular swap which we have done to recoil’s first S12 and may do to his new S12 which currently has the CA18ET motor.

The FJ20 was the second DOHC engine made by Nissan. The first being the S20, which is the coolest engine ever built…

No one with a DET swap that I know of is looking to sell. We might have a ca18det for sale, and can possibly find you a clean Chassis.
And yes, to our knowledge the car will be the only S12 in NORTH AMERICA with the FJ20et. The cars also came with the FJ20E (non turbo) and a small number made it to the US. They didn’t have the ca20e yet, so they needed something to replace the Z22.
The fastest 200SX in the world runs low 9.0 in the 1/4 with a fairly mild FJ20et. There is a tube framed S14 I believe into the 7s or 8s with the same powerplant.
There were definitely not MILLIONS. The FJ20ET only came in one year of the S12 (84) and not too many of them are left alive.
And to whoever is building a “sickest ca18et ever”. I hope you know that motor well. The cylinder head design, regardless of porting or cam work will stop you dead at 230-250hp. And watch your headbolts. Mine came apart at 17psi, halting my ca18et project, hence the FJ. But I might have some go-fast goodies from the abandoned project. I know one guy in the UK who managed just under 300whp with a ca18et, but he also had well over £10,000 into the car. If you know 200s, you’ll know him. Den, aka Sylvia God, makes the Testa Rossa body kit. He tossed that motor for DET and made 400 hp instead.
KAs are really nice in S12s. More than enough nut to pull a stock SR S13/14.
An S12 is nothing like an S13. You’d better have a lot of mechanical/electrical skills and skill behind the wheel. The last ca18det S12 I knew of was written off horribly by a newer S-chassis owner. And I mean BAD. They don’t understeer like S13s to save your ass. The stock electrical system is a nightmare, and these cars are all nearly 20 years old. There is NO aftermarket for these cars and even stock parts are being discontinued. But they were the fastest S-chassis ever released in North America, outhandled (skidpad) the best exotic cars of the same era (find the C&D article online) lower co-efficent of drag than all but the top 5 cars in the 80s, go figure.
Come by MSSC if you want to see S12s. I think we have most of them in Ontario right now Koukis and Zenkis
