who is out of a job here?

Ive been out of work since feb 20 not even a week yet but it seems like longer lol, anyway I’ve been asking my friends about work and they too are not working at this time. Im trying to look at it in the best way but Ive been welding for over 4 years now so it feels weird to be out of a job.
I guess the best thing about it is I know I’ll be returning to the company but for now its just a ruff patch that we all have to make it through.

Any one esle out of a job or looking for one?
If so what did you do when you where working or what type of work are you looking for?

I’m out of a job for the next two months thanks to trade school, and the SR’s comin out of the 240 tommorow to get freshened up at school. Only time I’ll have access to all the machining equipment, but a shitty time to be rebuilding an engine since I’ll be on EI. I’m also giving notice that I’m quitting my current job while I’m in school. But there is some good news, I will be done with my apprenticeship training and will be able to write this spring hopefully, and I have a new job lined up at a VW dealership when I get out of school. Its gonna drive me crazy not working for the next two months though, and its gonna be fun living on cup-a-soups saving money for engine parts…

Its been slow at work lately, but nothing out of the ordinary since this is usually dead time. The recession hasnt seemed to affect the auto repair industry, in fact it seems that people are more willing to put money into their older vehicles rather than buying something newer. Anyone else in the trade seeing the same thing?

P.S- Anyone looking for a job in a garage in the hamilton area doing tires/oilchanges/some tech work if your an apprentice, put in a resume at Canadian tire dundas location, there will be two apprentices leaving in the next month. Money is decent, hourly/flatrate, great bunch of guys, but theres little room for advancement in the trade, so keep that in mind…

For the guys losing their jobs, best of luck with finding a new one

Best time to be in school

I had gotten laid off at the beginning of the truck sale slowdown…right around the time UAW was striking and asking for more money (GEWD IDEA GUISE).

Most of my town is out of work. My bro-in-law is laid off, my mom’s friend is laid off, my mom would maybe be laid off but is off because of her back being completely fucked, and I have a lot of guys in my classes that have been laid off.

im pretty much out of work, but im also in school full time

Yup, and look to pay 25% more then what you pay now.

Tuition is going UP.

im out of a job only took out a dozen resumes but i just cant do CT or mcdonalds i`ve been out for two months :(

Just got laid off yesterday. The dealership I worked at closed up, no warnings, no notice. Went in yesterday and was told not to come to my next shift cause theyd be closed by then. Good times.

^yeah saturn in peterborough gave the sales men one week notice last week and mechanics a month

GM is dropping Saturn entirely from what I hear, and scaling back Pontiac a lot.

Im hoping for a raise
