I dont know what fuel pump to run on my set up this year, because i went through 3 walbro 255’s last year and i dont know why… i winter drove my sr for the first year, but the last 3 never… it was really just a basic s14 sr swap with FMIC, 3inch exhaust, and no tune, boost controller, or anything -
is there any better brands out there for the 350 to 400 range? is it worth it ?
Set up - S14 SR20DET
Gt28-71r (the bigger one)
New Head Gasket (i dont know which yet but good)
Cams & Stoppers
ARP Head Studs
FMIC
Koyo Rad with 2x FAL
3" Turbo Back
AEM EMS
740cc Injectors
Taka Turbo Lines
i think thats it … power should be in the range of 350 to 400
check the voltage going to the pump, if the voltage is too low it can cause premature wear of the fuel pump, if u find that to be the case , run a heavier gauge wire and a relay and god some more voltage/amperage going to her
any fuel pump will die if u run out of gas often chad !!!
i remember on two instances when u thought ure car died but u told me u found out u had no gas…- i can guarantee that thats what killed ure pumps.
dirt from the bottom of gas tank goes in and wrecks it.
varun
you should keep gas in the car man lol and get to the bottom of the problem b4 trying to go around it by putting in something else… if your`re still looking for an alternative:
mkiv tt supra pumps will out last any walbro and flow a little more.downside is they are a little louder, draw more voltage and obviously more expensive
I use the 300zx filter on my walbro with pretty much the same setup as you Chad. Sasha installed it, so it might make a small difference.
Good to know about not letting your fuel level go under 1/4 tank (you learn something new every day).
lol im pretty sure varun is right, i got all my fuel pumps from him anyways - so i should think of a 1/4 as empty… that sounds like a plan ! My gauge would never read properly from tank slap and i just never got around to fixing it, so maybe thats why i ran out so many times lol
yea, the socks on the pumps cannot stop every little small piece of dirt from the bottom of the tank…even on my stock truck, with 300k, i always fill at just over a 1/4 just to be safe. Its cheap insurance.
are you using a s13 walbro sock on the s14? the s13walbro sock is sooooo short on s14 it wont reach the gas at the very bottom so the 1/4 tank theory takes effect
