I paid $100 for a pair of tickets their last tour, I would NOT want to watch them EVERY tour. But the price of admission is worth watching the professor’s Rythm Method.
I had to look up the new stuff, I forgot about Limbo and never bought Snakes and Arrows.
if u can post from nyspeed on your phone you can use it as an mp3 player and shut the radio off! haha.
most “pop” is funded accordingly to get spins on radio. since the last 10 years of music industry, the industry has removed people who “love” music and tried to sign great acts regardless of genre/trends and now is run by people who stare at graphs instead of listening to musicianship. ypud be amazed at what lengths people go thru on the higher end of producing albums like these to even ensure the mastering engineer destroys the quality of the album just to ensure it holds a higher RMS (volume) so if youre flipping on the radio it sounds “louder” and more pleasant to your ears at the immediate moment, at the result of the guys finger touching the acoustic guitar string causing your radio to clip.
those same people feel that if a song is funded to get enough spins, it will be liked, period. and to a degree it finds its way to enough people where it is essentially profitable (nickelback). with how much i’ve learned about radio, it makes me sick. the american music industry is so fucked up it’s out of control and nearly laughable at times.
as impartial as i am to rush, i do think that neil peart is one of the gnarliest drummers around, but i completely agree with zac. people who like rush, LOVE rush, to the point where i dont think a hetero dude would mind tounging getty’s balls if he asked nicely
It’s fine IF they would play B sides and not “hits” or “singles”.
But if I were to do the Mandatory Metallica it would go; play an obscure song from NWOBHM (yeah go ahead and look up that acronym if you don’t know it of the top of your head), play a song from “oldskool” (pre Black album), play a B side from “newschool”, and then play a modern heavy metal song from a current unknown artist.
FM Radio would absolutely cringe at the fact ]/[EGADET]-[ 's Rust in Peace is the most acclaimed metal album of all time. When was the first or last time you heard anything played off of that on the radio?
Same goes for Rush, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Black Sabbath.
Rush - play Cyngus-X1, Hemispheres, Natural Science, not Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of Radio all the time.
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graphitti is a double disc and they have reduced it to Kashmir, play something from the BBC sessions.
Beatles - can you play something NOT from the White Album, say Revolver or Rubber Soul?
Sabbath - yeah, they put out 1x albums and 1xx of songs and they are all Iron Man
And this is why you hate those bands. I have to skip those tracks to retain my sanity. This is only part of the problem, look at the artist that they don’t play either on the “classic” stations (as progrocker mentioned), or the stations that are suppose to be playing new music (see my above lists).
I was actually thinking about music along those lines…
Has the digital age and the ability for ANYONE to make music and have it broadcast via some form of media watered down the quality of music and artist?
The fact that anyone can get their foot in the door, hurt the quality of music?
With regards to rap, look at someone like Lil Wayne, IMO, worse lyricists ever!
Yet you put yourself out there and whore yourself out on enough songs and “mixtapes” eventually something will hit.
That “ringtone rapper” Soulja boy was discovered on YouTube.:tif:
I remember when it would take an artist 2-3 years (or more) to come with an album, then I would actually anticipate the release date to go and actually purchase it.
I’ve been listening to 102.1 the Edge since I was in college in 99 when they had Humble and Fred on in the morning. Same thing though, even they don’t have that much variety, just more then the shit 103.3 edge does. I get VIOLENT everytime fucking Cold Play comes on, fuck them. Still, it’s about the best station that we can get here. I was in Pittsburgh and there was a station, 99.1 of some shit, the X i think it was called-FUCKING OUTSTANGING!!! They played a NIN song other then Head like a Hole, followed it up with a Cure song other then “Friday I’m in Love”, went from there to some electronic stuff-it was a great station.
Someone who knows exactly why things are the way they are, thank you. We’re all just ranting at how it sucks, you know WHY it sucks and WHY we have to listen to Tom Sawyer AGAIN! after a song about how Bad someone’s Girlfriend truly is. She’s a whore b/c she watches Jersey Shore, and you met her drunk at a bar, of course she’s DTF with everyone.
It sucks now because it was originated by young men and from what I see there aren’t many young men left. It is mostly just whiney boys with piercings and tattoos overcompensating for their lack of manliness.
Rock is dead.
Most TV shows and commercials portray men as stupid, inept, wimpy, whiney, losers. Maybe they are correct today.
LOL. Yeah man I actually have Grooveshark and Pandora on my phone so I don’t listen to the radio that much, just enough to get annoyed and then post about it on a pseudo-automotive forum.
Dude, I’m so happy I’m not the only one on here who knows how much Rush sucks.

Somebody get this man a beer!
Wow, you have the reading comprehension of a dyslexic 2nd grader (which explains 73% of your posts), let me help you out…
I see your point but despite the fact that they are great songs (albeit very overplayed), it doesn’t make the band suck. Rush is a Prog Rock band, meaning most people won’t like them. Try listening to Pre '76 Genesis, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator, etc. It isn’t for everyone. Rush just happened to be on the mainstream side of it. Pop in the 2112 album and enjoy.
I didn’t say they sucked, watch “I Love You Man” w/Paul Rudd… I wanted to put a bullet in my head, I thought they were going to start tonguing each other’s balls at the show in the movie, every OMG#1RUSHFAN acts like this…
Rush doesn’t suck, I still can’t comprehend how that point is even being made. You don’t like Tom Sawyer, fine. You don’t like Geddy Lee, fine. But musically they are an incredible trio.
I hate James LaBrie of Dream Theater, but Dream Theater in and of itself is a musical titan. I mean Jordan Rudess went to Juilliard School of Music at the age of 9. They are that fucking good.
See they are talented, I just have no interest in their music besides Carter Beauford, who is an excellent drummer. I can’t even make it through a DMB album.
