What did you use to cut the steel?
I used my metal bandsaw and then cleaned up the edges with my CNC mill.
I was going to get them water-jet cut but I figured I have the tools, I might as well make them myself.
nice! I keep wanting to make stuff like that but can’t seem to figure out what tools I would need.
Wheels, tune, run 11’s. (except let’s be realistic, I’ll never take it to the track)
Heads / cam / spray
replace diff stub snap rings because axle keeps popping out on driver’s side
install exhaust I just finished (pretty much back to stock minus addition of cutout and quad tailpipes), fab cover for hole in trunk
wire up AC compressor and condenser fan, have AC lines made, charge system
NVH: shifter hole cover, wire reverse lights, adjust throttle cable
decide whether or not I want to buy drag radials since I really don’t want to break anything at the track this year
I was using a 24 tpi blade to cut the 3mm plate, it took a bit but ended up with a cleaner cut. The rule is 3 teeth for every inch, but I found that as long as I go slower, I can get away with it.
The mill makes life so much easier though, I made these in CAD first, so all I had to do was import it to MasterCAM, set up a profiling operation and it used the bolt holes as origin points.
AS of last weekend I completely gutted my garage and re-organized everything, built a new work bench, and prepped the CB450 to pull the motor this week and crack it open to fix the trans.
Fingers crossed.
On point.
I would have made them on my CNC plasma table at work in 3min.
@Motocrossx23
You know, I have a plasma cutter in my welding lab, I was looking into purchasing a CNC table for it next year, but I don’t have enough room
We have a messer and esab table that each will run two heads at once. Makes larger productions runs a snap.
I was looking at the Torchmate tables, they come in various sizes. I just can’t justify losing so much room for a tool that might only be used 4-5 times a year.
Everyone said put muffler(s) on it, @BREETIME did this: (lets be honest i didn’t do anything)
Valve closed for the burbs and 3" muff pipe for the rest of the civilized world.
Wow… sexy
I just fell over in disbelief.
Ha, look who’s talking. At least i’m not as bad as @Motocrossx23
