Rocking my lesbo wagon with 07 BBS’ and Hakka 2’s. Wee!
Ah yes… I did this for 3 years until I bought the Saturn.
Now that I don’t have to and the goat is getting up in mileage (68k right now) and is far from stock these days I drive the Saturn and let the goat sit usually December-March.
Here is the Saturn and the GTO in the driveway last year after we got pounded with 2-3ft of snow. The saturn took a while to dig out lol.
How the GTO usually looks all winter.

Thanks!
Yeah that was one of our LS1Tech Pittsburgh meets at sonic… the goats transmission was blown up at the time.
do GTO’s have an open diff?
that would suck… but if they have even a viscous diff then i can see them being way fun… not as fun as a 240 since it doesnt matter if you crash those, but still fun.
Dana M80 limited slip. It’s a real good time. I have to make sure to clear my side windows as just as well as the front since I spend more time looking out the side windows when going forward.
And I’d rather crash my GTO than drive a Saturn.
lol, Not me… I <3 my GTO and the Saturn gets 40mpg, money saved for winter mods I’d have to wait all summer on a waiting list to get a replacement CAI if I wrecked the goat, that’s not fun!
I made the tough decision to put a few bucks into my old girl and get another winter out of her. to Jason Dale for sorting out a few issues. It was a tough decision not to jump on the m///, sorry walker
Winter Mode. 161k and doing well.
last year’s winter mode
this year’s winter mode
Johnny B doing it right.
<3
From what I’ve read, you’re not going to coat any part of the underside right? I’d be really curious to see a pic after one winter…not that I’d expect a huge amount to change but it would be interesting.
In with the Touareg.
My M5 still looks brand new underneath after last winter(its first).
My winter beater:
Turbo meth injected suzuki samurai 10psi fun fun fun
haha 5th gens are queer!
For anyone that cares about their car, and wants it to stay rust free, I suggest the PETRO CANADA SEASON PASS CAR WASH.
It’s not the snow that rusts the car, it’s the salt. So if you buy the season pass, it’s around $100, you can wash your car everyday for 90 days.
This way, salt will never have time to attack your chassis and frame, since it’ll always be washed off.

Just my opinion
Details on said phenomenon?
Sorry, Salt adds to the problem, obviously if you sprinkled salt on your car it wouldn’t do anything. But if the surface was wet and then you added salt, the surface would rust dramatically. Rust is the transfer of electrons from one surface to the other so salt present in water improves the capability of water to carry electron through redox reactions. Redox reactions are the oxidation and reduction reactions. Rusting in metals is the oxidizing of metal to metal oxide. Water acts as the medium to transfer the electrons and salt helps the corrosion process to speed up the process. It is an electrochemical process in which iron loses electrons by oxidation causing the water to break into hydroxide ions and oxygen. Now the iron that has oxidized reacts with the hydroxide ions and oxygen to form metal oxide. These salts remain even if the water is gone and they again start rusting whenever they come in contact with moisture.
