So who is getting there cars ready for winter? Wether it be putting the summer car away and pulling out the POS beater. Or driving your car all year around. What do you do to prep your car for winter? Who is running all seasons and who has detected snows. This will be my 2nd winter driving the E46 and 1st year with Snow tires on it.
I took both of my nice summer cars and reduced them into piles of parts. YAY winter
Luckily I have a Jeep G. Cherokee given to me for a company DD, but I do have a dedicated set of blizzacks that I will most likely be throwing on the speed3 soon. I booked an apt at car well for the 16th as well…
Putting Mr.2 to hibernate. I have a 2003 Malibu to drive through the winter. 175,000 miles and counting, with free snow tires from my nieghbor.
bought a 2008 LR3 w electronic locking rear diff. going to put AT tires on it and go wheeling all winter!
I usually don’t put my snow tires on until we have a good snowfall. Change my oil at the same time so i don’t have to worry about it again until spring. debating if i should even put my snowboard rack on this year
putting my evo away the 14th
put the BMW in storage last weekend. I’m driving the lesbian wagon all winter. It’s really nice having 2 cars and not having to swap out tire and wheel sets every few months.
tbSS awd with locking rear diff. Probably keep all seasons on and see how it does. If I can find a cheap set of 17"s then ill get snows.
Why so soon?
Between all the rain/nasty weather last week and the frost the past few mornings, I just didn’t feel like driving it in that. Plus, I needed my wagon to haul some bulky crap when moving so I put that guy on the road. I figured it was stupid to put furniture and dirty garage shit on the nice leather while my wagon collected dust and leaves in the driveway. Also, this will motivate me to clean out the garage so I can put the E39 inside, since we have a bunch of shit stuffed in there from the move. It’s just sitting in the driveway now.
I’ve been putting off getting my civic away. It really should go soon though. Also I need to pick up snow tires for my Accord. I’ve had really good snows on my Altima for the last 3 years and I’m afraid i’ll slide into shit without them. Plus FWD snow drifting is more fun with snows on.
Makes sense
Ive got the 2" lift ill install on the daily. and snows. but i usually wait till the first good snow fall.
Just had a complete doll up and winter prep done a few weeks ago. Other than that, I’ve got a new set of “no-seasons” to go on as soon as I feel like getting off my thumbs to put them on, then it’s time for an alignment.
I had my blizzaks transferred to my stock rims a couple months ago. Summer rims/tires will come off at the first sign of snow. I love not having to swap tires on rims every year.
Speed3 will get the steelies/snows put at the first sign of snow. Have Weather Tech mats on the way.
Miata is all cleaned and ready to get covered up for the winter. :((
I’m picking up a Chevy Colorado this weekend from Alabama and already have an apt at Carwell to get it coated on the 22nd, Weather Tech mats are on their way, bought a cheap set of ugly Colorado steelies that I’ll have snows put on this week. Still have to get a tonneau (sp?) cover for the bed. The truck is going to be my main winter vehicle in hopes of extending the life of the Speed3.
Corinne’s CX-5 will get the awesome set of wheels/snows that she picked up from JBGTI mounted at the first sign of snow. (Thanks Jon!!!)
Coil overs get raised and studs go on when the snow falls.
On standby.
Truck has new wheels and tires, it’s already lifted and I just need sandbags for bed now.
You may not even need sandbags, but Idk how crazy you plan on getting in the snow lol My old s10 never had snows or sandbags and I never got stuck. IF I did it was brief and quickly fixed with the good ol’ FWD REV Rocking routine. Made for good sliding though!

Got the two new blizzaks mounted on my winter rims Sunday. For some reason I always seem to burn up the rear tires faster than the fronts. I hold off on swapping on the snows until I see measurable snow in the forecast though because I hate the way the car handles compared to the summer tires.
GTO winter mode looks great this year with the roof rack and ski box.
