A stock SR20DET, would it work the same wthout a BOV, or is it completly needed.
when i first started mine it didn’t have one…ran and drove perfectly normal 
BOV doesn’t do much for your car other then relieve the extra pressure built up from a turbo.
It’s just considered a very common and popular aftermarket option.
Its best to have one seeing has how all the pressure is just going back into the turbo…
Its perfectly fine to run it without for a short perid, as it will just put more stress on your turbo, but its always recomended to run one. Think about it, its relieving the pressure rather than shooting it back at the turbo.
Ya its just a good idea. Its fine if u need to get from A to B, but I’d be investing in one quickly. Will prolong the life of your turbo. Plus they sound like sex.
Thats why i’m asking i don’t want to stress my turbo for nothing.
ya just get one, you’ll find some floating around in the parts for sale section, or get one from a registered dealer of the company.
compressor surge… some say it hurts the turbo, others disagree. your call, it wont change how the car drives or runs.
do you still have the stock diverter valve hooked up? if you have a FMIC you won’t have it.
like others said, it doesn’t change the drivability of the car. if you beat on the car regularly (boost a lot) then i would recommend having one. if it’s just a daily driver that doesn’t see boost very often you’ll probably be fine without one.
it’s not as bad for the turbo as most people think it is.

well one theory that surronds the BOV and performance is, it expells the pressure that woudl slow down the turbo, so the turbo is still spinning fast so you have less lag, therefore more power faster… and as stated before…sound like sex
The bearings and seals wont last long on the turbo. Just get a aftermarket BOV and recirculate.
Yea, I’m looking into getting one… I found an HKS ssq for 160 with the piping… I onno if hats good or not though… LOL
If its real than yes…they normally go for $200+ new, and i’ve seen used ones go for that price aswell, and sell quick.
The 1st gen ssq is by far the best, the 2nd gen is the one with fins.
