+1 on not wearing gloves when working in close with machines that can suck in your hand.

don’t forget thumb is 60% of wages!!!
Well it looks like you wont have to trim that finger nail anymore.
I wish I had fresh pics of the scar on my leg from when it happened. Last year at work I got nicked by a diamond wheel on a grinder. It went about an inch deep and opened up about 3 inches wide. I could see my muscle flexing. Luckily the diamond wheel only burned its way through my flesh so there wasnt much blood. Heres how the scar looks now after 7 staples outside and idk how many inside.
Good luck with your finger.
nice. how did a grinder cut you there?
another pic added, its starting to heal.
fucking ouch.
I saw a guy cut off all of his fingers on a table saw at candlelight cabinetry when I used to work there.
I actually helped find a couple of them, but one of them got away from us.
weird, I was just reading some safety guide at work the other day and it specified not to wear gloves around rotating or reciprocating machinery. Those pics are pretty nasty, glad it wasn’t worse for you.
that sucks. I would also say you shouldn’t be wearing gloves when working with your hands near rotating equipment.
i’ve hit a finger on a spinning endmill before, i’m sure if it would have had something to catch on and pull around for a while I would have been in a world of hurt.
Not to beat a dead horse, but the gloves probably weren’t a great idea.
Having worked in a cabinet shop for years I can sympathize though. A few years ago I took off most of my right thumb print on a table saw. It looked as bad if not worse than your injury, but in the end it healed nicely. Hang in there, it will heal quicker than you think though. I hope they can do something for your nail though. In the meantime collect those comp checks and get well.
