i rode my bike to school from 1st grade on, until i had a car, over a mile. although i did get asked by a man to help him find his dog once…

1st grade? Really? Isn’t that like 6 years old?

The average kid learns to balance between six and seven, given the chance. It is not unusual for it to happen a couple of years either way.

So two days in a row he watches a 10 year old causing traffic to dodge around her because she obviously doesn’t know how to properly share the road with traffic, and brings her home to let mom know, “hey, she’s not safe riding unsupervised”.

People swerve around adult cyclists all the time, they sure as hell don’t get out of the way when a car comes up behind them. Why don’t they get taken home to be yelled at by mom?

Riding my bike to school at that age was so awesome, I actually looked forward to school. Plus I had a sweet Dyno VFR in grade school. It was about 1.5-2 miles and I rode sidewalks all the way there. Amazing I’m still alive.

My kid was riding w/o training wheels on hos Tony Hawk bike Last summer…
He’s going to be 5 in Oct
My 6 y/o has moved on to a 20" bike that she is too small for this past summer.
Is it wrong to let her fall over?

There is no way they will be riding to school for at least a few more years. Not until

I too seem to recall some shitty guy trying to give me a ride home once because my mom told him to…
As it was 10 minute walk, I just kept on going. It seemed to piss my parents off though.

when i was in 3rd/4th grade i would have to walk or ride 3 miles to school up hill in both directions and into the wind… i dont see the problem with it
