Long story short, I’m moving and need to come up with extra cash for Security and such, right?
Well, I typically try to keep a few hundred in the bank, and put all the extra on student loans… since loan interest > the Savings APR.
Well, This brings me to a sticky situation, since I usually only have a few hundred cash on hang.
So I have a discover card, right?
If I’m at a store (walmart, sams club, etc…) It will ask if you want cash back (as do debit cards).
Now if I elect to get cash back, does that count as a Cash Advance with the crazy ass fucking APR? (23.99% I think), or does it just add on to your purchase?
I remember with my old job, I always had direct deposit… so whenever I needed cash, I would just get cash back and that would be the way I got cash, never went to a bank. It would just show as one charge, like… If I spend $25, and got $50 cash back… It would show up as a $75 charge.
Does the same rule apply? Or does Discover put the purchase in one (regular) category, then the Cash back in the Cash Advance category?
btw, I would call discover but I don’t feel like speaking to someone named Jennifer who can hardly speak a word of english, and probably doesn’t even understand me.
Use the disover card to paypal a friend, have him give you the cash for it Minus the fee an 10 bux for his trouble… Bam cah adance at normal interest rate -3% In paypal fees
If you have a decent background and history, ask him if you can pay part of it each month. My apartment right out of school the landlord said I can pay it over 3 months to help me out.
Btw, the same day I sent them an email asking.
Here’s what i got in response.
Thank you for your message about the Cash Over option. We want to be the most rewarding relationship you have with a financial services company, and I am happy to assist you today!
The Cash Over option is a great way to get groceries and spending money whenever you use your Discover Card at the store. It can also save you money, because there is no transaction fee for obtaining cash over, and the Cash Over amount is subject to the standard Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for purchases.
The Cash Over amount will be listed separately from the purchase amount on your monthly statements.
The standard Cashback Bonus of up to 1% applies only to the amount of your purchase, not the Cash Over amount. But if you obtain Cash Over at a warehouse club, such as BJ’s or Sam’s Club, or a discount store like Wal-Mart, both the Cash Over and the purchase amount will receive a fixed 0.25% Cashback Bonus.
APR for purchases = 0% at the moment.
soooo okay.
Discover said so.
