I just picked up a 93 Toyota truck with a blown 22re engine. Let me know if anyone has one and how much you want for it.
Thanks, Matt

what is wrong w/ your 22re? did it eat through the timing chain and appears to be blown? if all it did was eat through the cover, replace the chain/h20pump/cover. or did you leak down test it? those engines generally bring 800 bucks still through a yard. i could rebuild it for you or get you parts to do it.
Generally they jump the timing chain happens all the time with those things… you replace it and they tend to run forever… still expensive motors used with 100k + on them.
Yea, I am capable of rebuilding it myself, but the kid I got the truck from did the headgasket and he said he got 50 miles out of it then it lost all power and he said “it sounded like there was cooland leaking into the oilpan” so… Im not sure what is going on with this motor… And on top of that it has been sitting for about a year, so I just dont really trust this one. I would rather just swap in a running motor and be done with it.
I Have never seen them jump time on the chain. usually they get loose and the chain wears on the cover, cuts into the coolant passage and leaks coolant in w/ oil. there is 2 styles of covers too. i have had to rebuild atleast 10 of these at work.
hot trick is to put a 20r head on a 22 block. old 20r’s are found in 70’s early 80’s celica/supra/trucks. you can use a carb engine, just swap your efi shit onto it.
hmmm… that might be it, I’ll have to get it yanked out and take a look at it. where do I find a 20r head? Does it just bump up the compression?
