I’m pretty sure you’re getting high insurance rates cause of other things like location, age, record, etc, and not your car. Meaning a miata prob wont help you lower your insurance

Rule of thumb for Canadian Insurance.
Rate is broken down as follows.
35% is based on driving record
~ 30% based on car and age
The other 35% is things like location, marital status, insuracne on house or other items, number of years with company, etc
Try another company.
The company you tired obviously does not cater to your demographic.
Jevco, belair, economical, TD, Primmum, Guarantee, Gore, pafco, perth … will all probably give you better rates
