I’m thinking this will be a long shot, but looking to borrow (or find a place to rent) a concrete coring machine that will have between an 8-10" bit to core through a 4" slab of concrete.

Between 8 and 10 inches? So you don’t need a precise hole?
is the hole going to be through a wall or floor?
Im not sure where you could rent one but i could probably come and do it for you for a price
Home depot rents them, not sure they have 8"-10" core, probably only 6"

I have to core through my patio slab (4" thick) for 3 6x6 patio posts. I have the get the posts below frostline and backfill with concrete.
Home Depot only has 6" cores.

dont put the posts in the concrete, they will rot quicker, get 3 of the brackets that you sink into concrete for bolting posts to, that way the wood doesnt absorb moisture from the damp concrete
