WTB/WTTF: TDI Diesel

Looking for a TDI Diesel, Looking to pay under $7000. Also willing to maybe trade a LS1 m6 car for one.

Lemme know what you got.

i know of one but it is a beetle…lmk if you would like more info probably could grab it cheap

Seriously? You haven’t owned that F-Bod for 4 months…

I’ll keep an eye out…

Ughhh No beetle haha.

And If I can get a good trade for the f-body I’d do it. I’m trying to keep this thing for at least this summer. But I have a 45 minute drive to work and this 28 MPG back breaker isn’t doing me too good. Plus, never be afraid to make a profit. If I had kept the first car I owned I’d be driving a $300 escort.

A quick craigslist search…

And there is a shit ton more of them out this way.

Albany… is far far far away from buffalo. I made a few calls to rochester and buffalo but the only one worth my time is not returning my calls.

It seems like the rest of them have some sort of problem.

Ive got a 2001 Jetta TDI GLS Red black leather power seats
EVERY OPTION then some.

Pros: Drives great, power windows/locks/mirriors/cruise works flawlessly, trailer hitch (mounted never used), power/heated seats (out of a glx), sunroof, 3 spoke sport wheel, keyless entry, tranny/clutch has less then 50k. never missed an oil change., all stock always been, minus a K&N drop in.

Cons: 290k miles (wouldnt know unless you looked at the dash), salvage title (im holding a clean title for the car, carfax may show it salvaged not sure) there is a dent on the passanger door but opens and closes fine window works great, and there is a black front bumper (replaced never painted)

would sell for 5k…

They are pretty common out this way for some reason. It may be worth a trip to be honest.

At least get some pulls in the TA before you trade it

See if Brent_strong is going to sell his since he got an S2k?

there’s a black 02 golf on svtperformance, for $12k, 68k miles, I think it’s chipped too, guy claims 50mpg.

As much as you like that car, I would NEVER pay $5000 for a 200k Jetta. With a salvage title.

I can pick up a 2002 Jetta right now with the same options minus the leather with 98k for $7000 with a clean title.

Check this site out, its where I found mine: www.foobert.com/carhunt.html

Be sure to keep an eye out for maintenance records: timing belt/water pump/tensioners/rollers, all that shit… Injection Pump leaks (ULSD eats away at the old rubber seals, Bosch sells a Viton reseal kit), type of oil used, oil change interval, all that shit

Good luck!

Yeah, thank you man.

thats cool… dont really want to sell just throwing out there…
but if you do pick one up have any issues let me know as bigwoode will tell you i know these cars pretty well.

also Search tempest is a cool search for cars.

unfortunately you probably will end up driving to find a nice one. i picked mine up in CT
bigwoode had to import his from Canada.

But GL.

Just re-read what I posted, and sorry if that came off as kind of dickish. Idk why I posted like that, I apologize. I’ll try and find something, I found a Red 2002 in Rochester, with a new tranny and timing belt service records for pretty much 6900, its got 110k on it. As much as I hate automatic I think I may take a look at it.

Thanks for the advice though.

He sold it a few days before buying his S2k, heh.

I would stay away from an auto.

my manual made it 250k and due to a fluid leak gave out. the autos really dont have the same resale also and judging by your car fliping history I would stay away.

look around NYC thats where I got mine, and also my inlaws. I know you dont want to drive to pick it up but it often makes it worth the drive, the cars up here have high resale becouse the where not sold in NY till 08, the only way to get one in Buff was importing from out of state… and buff peps too poor to do that lol

things too look for:
leaky oil pan
ANY residue around the injection Pump
stay with a ALH if at all possible (99-03.5)
Manual a must
sythetic oil is a must or look out turblo
check for engine play wishbone mount breaks and will drop your motor (dont ask)

things assume will be broken: Glove box/armrest/cd changer if it had it.

anyways again GL

Although the transmission was just replaced, it was replaced with the same faulty shit-ass 01M transmission… I would join TDIclub.com and browse the forums there, there is more information then you will know what to do with, but there is a “How to buy a TDI guide” believe it or not, and it is very helpful.

The automatics are pretty much condemned, and if you start a thread in TDI101 asking what people think about the car you might buy, they will reinforce that fact over and over…

The initial process of importing my car from Canada was a pain in the ass, mainly because Volkswagen wasnt cooperative and refused to give me a letter of compliance with DOT/EPA standards, unless I was the owner of the car. (Need the papers to become the owner, need to be the owner to get the papers… :picard:)

But everything from there was pretty smooth, customs I was in and out in about 15 minutes, and paid no duty since it was built in Mexico… If you want more info or have any questions feel free to PM me or badnewsmini, and there are a couple other guys on the forum with TDI’s or TDI history

Too bad you h8 biesels. We could have made a deal.

Just buy JJ’s
I vote look on TDIclub also.
