Truckers have a job like everyone else and are no more important than anyone else.

I just got back from the Outer Banks and the worst thing about highway driving this year wasn’t the truckers. It was the fucking morons driving slow in the right lane and moving into the left lane to let cars merge on. If it is a 2 lane road, fuck the merging traffic, there will eventually be a break in traffic. There is no need to slow up the fast lane 10-15mph because you want to be nice to the merging traffic. You may be nice to them, but you are fucking the people actually driving.

I could not agree with you more here. Especially when there are signs that say “USE BOTH LANES TO MERGE POINT.” That means, if you get in the lane 2 miles before you need to, there is no need to be a dick and block the people that can read.

It’s not just trucks, it’s anyone. I come across it all the time and there is nothing more irritating. Why does everyone merge so damn early around here? it just slows traffic down worse, causes congestion much further back then it would if people used common sense.

I always go as far up as I can before merging, but I never go fast. I’ll just slowly creep up to the merge point and someone will let me in. Going fast in this situation is a great way to piss people off.

I do that everyday going to/from work. And I even do it when there are no signs that say “Use both lanes to merge point”. It’s stupid to sit there when there is a perfectly good lane to drive in. :smiley:

For the same reason that we have to drive through two lane tunnels to get into the city. Most people around here become idiots when they hit the road.

I personally think big trucks should have their own roads so that cars can actually get somewhere on the highway in a reasonable amount of time.
