I am so overcome with emotion right now I can’t even think straight. I have been a volunteer firefighter for just over 7 years with the Akron Fire Company. I went into Fire Council tonight becuase they said I have not been making enough calls. Long story short, they said I was “dead weight” and kicked me out. The first 5 YEARS I was in the fire company I only missed a handfull of work details and events. I dedicated every second of free time to that place. It came to be my second home. Recently I have been working alot and could not make many work details or drills because of my conflicting work schedual . I have made 30 calls since January this year…our quota for the year is at least 50 to be a member in good standing. I’m so incredably dumbfounded that they would treat me like that after the countless thousands of hours I have dedicated to them, not to mention a house fire is the reason I ended up with a reconstructed shoulder. This is such an incredble personal blow for me I can’t even come up with the words to explain how incredably hurt I am by this. I know im gonna get flammed on hardcore here but I just need some advice to help me get over this before I do something stupid like drink myself dead.
Maybe it’s because you still can’t figure out that there is no A in the word SCHEDULE .

I’ve dont alot of thinking and as much as it sucks I do not regret a momoent that I had spent there. I know that I have personaly saved a few lives and that right there makes all the differance. If it was not for my then those few people would be dead right now. Which is a good feeling to know that you have at least had an impact on somebodys life.

He didn’t really get rejected, they disliked him because he went against of the grain of how they were corrupt. He loved being a part of something, which was a hobby, not an acceptance of people.

Am I correct in that none of that has helped your career?
So long as you can pass mandatory drug screenings, you should be able to build a quality resume?
MAybe you can use the tax money spent on you to get ahead in life.

Idk anything about the volunteer fire system. But it sounds like you should just talk to them and tell them your situation and that you are willing to put forth more effort.
7 Years seems like an awful lot of time to just be let go like this.

Eh…its just the fact that I will be 24 this friday and I have spent the past 7 years of my life working my ass off there. Thats almost 1/3 of my life dedicated to something that I could say I am part of, and be very proud to say it, only to have them turn around and stab me in the back.
Just saying -
You may have thought you were dedicated, and doing whatever you could, but in the eyes of other people, you could have been doing nothing.
I meet plenty of people who think they are “soooooo busy” and “SUPER HARD WORKING” and whatever else… only to find that they spend most of their day scratching their balls and surfing the web. Then when they get approached, they are like “but I was soooooo busy.”
Not saying that this is your case, but at the same time, not saying that it is not…
he looks like a shit vampire

Josh… you sure you didn’t see this coming? No warnings? No fuckups on your part? I think you might be leaving out part of the story…
Aren’t there like 20 other volunteer fire dealies like 5 minutes from your house?
