Whats the pay range I was going to forward this to someone…

I believe 70+. This is the “first” of “many” non-entry level positions available.
Also, I am certain this will be 3rd shift too.

Hmm

If something non 3rd shift pops up I want to apply

ouch.

working 4, 10 hrs days with a 15% shift differential added to the salary. Plus, working for the largest IT/News/Media.com site coming to Western New York is pretty promising and good for the resume in the end. Depends what you make of it.

It’s good for western ny and somebody stuck in western ny, but 3rd shift sucks.

It would be a different story if it was entry-level, and a “foot in the door” type move to get experience…Other than that, it just blows. Work at a fucked up hour is better than no work, though.

Hmmmm…

What does yahoo use for DWDM? Cisco? infinera?

Oh if only I had bothered to finish my degree… 3rd shift would suck though.

I didn’t see anything listed under required skills that you would learn from getting a degree lol

Maybe CCNA/CCNP stuff however that is mostly enterprise routing and not ISP/hosting

Minimum Job Qualifications (these are minimum qualifications REQUIRED for this position)

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or telecommunications preferred

Lame… I have my CCNA, but no degree. STUCK in the Southern Tier lol

Cisco.

To be honest, CCNA is a plus but they are really looking for CCNP

Degree is a degree but work experience in most cases is looked over a piece of paper

Most forward thinking companies don’t care if you have a degree.

I do all the above mentioned stuff for Time Warner in the north east and I don’t have a CCNA or a 4 year.

The funny thing is people complain about the shift when the economy sucks, a large company is looking to hire, for a step above entry level making 70+ is more than what many people who currently work in the IT field, yadda, yadda, and yadda. It depends how you make the shift. So instead of working, you are sleeping and instead of sleeping your working. You still have the evening to night like if you were working first shift. In the end, beggars can’t be choosers.

For what they want to pay, it being yahoo, and BUFFALO people should be tripping over each other to apply

Teach me your ways… lol

You should probably keep in mind that any larger company

TimeWarner, Comcast, Verizon, or whatever have change windows anyways.

For example timewarners change window is 2am-5am I end up working 1am-7am all the time.

Exactly, which is the reason I jumped shipped from a mid-level position at Delaware North (Security Analyst) to an entry level position at Yahoo. It is not Google but it is the next best thing. They are very compensating plus the stock options they give you after three years and what you can buy at a discount price each year is not even included in the salary

The reason for all the weird shifts is because Yahoo! has IT offices all around the world for all the applications, products, services, etc. Examples, UK, China, India, South America, etc. Again, any resource will tell you that Google is huge in the US but Yahoo! has the International market (ASIA, UK, Japan). We have 40% of shares at Alibaba. Look how great they are doing besides the recent illegal activities. What I am trying to do is give people who are IT savy in Buffalo a chance because it is all about who you know which is one of the reasons I am working for Yahoo! and I just got my buddy a job here to (started today). IT in Buffalo is a small community but it is a reputable for the knowledge and hard-work.
