Yahoo started recruiting...

I designed the lay out of the Building in Lockport. It was different but I guess that’s what they wanted.

Any idea who got the interior walls and ceilings contract?

I have the full blueprint set sitting here on my desk, should I end the HVAC arguments?

Is it a giant window fan???

Does it look like this?

I was just going to comment on how much wrong I read in this thread.

I won’t say anything bad about Yahoo! being they are one of our larger customers so I will hold back my comments.

We use massive chillers for our datacenters but given we build MUCH larger datacenters and majority are in a hotter climate we need them. We go through ~50,000 gallons a day per building. There are many reasons to not go on air alone but like I said I’ll hold comments back (we still use chillers even in our Chicago datacenter we built).

Thought it was in Lockport?

Some new ideas coming out for cooling. Equipment and data center design/construction companies are putting a ton of effort in reducing costs associated with CRACs. This is not just related to the cooling system, but to each piece of gear in the center. 5 years ago, it would take 2-3 times more power for the hardware in the data center. Not to long ago, a 5Gbs router/switch would take up 1/3-1/2 rack and draw 60+Amps. Now, a fully loaded 1Tbs system with the high power optics can run on much less than 60A and takes up the same space. If you have been around SUN, HP, or IBM servers for a while, it’s amazing what you can get in 1-2 rack units now.

where in lockport are they building this thing?

Right behind the industrial park. I think the intersection is Townline and upper Mountain Road.

I hear they are paying really well???

4 yr degree. 2 yrs exp.

Does that really pay 60k? Really? Not bad. For a Help Desk position?

Hmmm right next to Delphi then. Plenty of room there.

The positions I talked to them about pay more then that…

Does that mean half of ievolve is going to be jumping ship?

I can’t imagine someone with all your certs would be applying for a help desk position.

Obviously there are many positions there that would pay at least that much and several more paying 2x that… but I don’t know of any other places payingthat much for Help Desk. Thats really good for this area.

lol idk I was about to leave then they counter offered now im torn.
