yokohama a008r

i am getting a set of yokohama a008r 195 40 15’s for my 240 i’ve been told these are really old and out of production i am getting them for $275 dollars brand new the price is amazing from what i know but how are the tires actualy? anyone know of them? please give me some feed back cause i don’t want to waaste my money on some bad tires …they are pretty oold so do tires rot? anything i should becarful of if i decide to drive on old tires?
are they even street legal?

Stock tire size on your car is 195/60R15.

old tires dry out and crust up. = easier blow-outs.

your risk.

P.S. 195/40/15 is gonna look absolutely stupid on a 240.

i got falkenz for $165 at pacific mall, but only a pair…cause my front tires are gayed out. and they are 205 60R 15
you can probably pick up 4 for double the price…

If they’re new being a few years old wont make a difference. The size however is all wrong. You can’t drive on those dude… the overall diameter of those will be more than 2 inches smaller than stock…maybe they’d fit a Miata or Austin Mini.

If you want cheap tires that dont entirely suck get some Kumho ECSTA ASX or Fuzion ZRi’s. They’re around 60-70 bucks each in your sizes.

okay thanks guys… so if my stock tire size is 195 60r 15 than isn’t 195 40’s low pros?

and ps: flying chicken please stop drifting on my street!! you’ll wake up the kids or atleast hit one of the annoying ones

they would be low profile but it would also make you wheel as a whole, alot smaller. get stock tire sizes. 205/60 or 195/60

a008r’s were yoks performance tires YEARS ago… i would think they are at least 7 years old…

the compound is probably off, if you want them to just burn off they might be ok…

low profile tires ONLY look good on big, flush wheels that line up with the fenders (height wise)… if your wheels are all sunken and tiny with a 5 inch gap between your wheel and fender/quarter panel you’re gonna look like a douche driving your car.

i had these tires on my mr2 i think hahaha

$275.00 is too much money for those tires. Tires that size and that age should be around $200.00 to $240.00 max, installed and balanced.

lol what if my cars lowered already would it look better? i guess i might have these tires for sale also anyone interested?

those tires are going to look rediculous regardless of how low your car is…

the smallest i would go is a 195 50 15 better off with a 215 50 or a 215 60

i have 15x6.5 rims with 215 60 15’s and i personally think the fitment is great with a set of coilovers.

and… the ride is great cus i have some tire give too…

^^^ lol whenever i see a post with my name i assume its been locked by gt greg if he posts in it lol
I was just wondering what i should sell the tires back out for? what is a reasonable price? 200? for 4 brand new tires? or should i charge more?

i think it is important here to note that this thread prevented this SRtwin from wearing these tires.
