socialism and capitalism are both flawed ideas because they fail to account for individual people.
in a purely capitalist society, some kids would starve to death every day because their parents were too lazy to provide for them.
in a purely socialist society, advances in technology would be slowed to a crawl, due to lack of incentive for advancement.
the trick is a blend of the two; where most people differ is the ratio.
until after high school, i was a moderate Republican, a la Specter, Rockefeller, or even Nixon.
upon moving out and having to fend for myself, i swung hard left because i felt things were incredibly unjust.
now? i think we’re already spending a shitload of money on poorly managed social programs. with proper management, we can reallocate that money to provide better socialized services.
