Z progress while she sleeps

Well I took my Z off the road about 2 weeks ago since the weather will be getting worse soon, and the clutch is just too far gone to have any fun in any gear. I decided it was time to start getting some work done on it. Already had the 99 tails when it came over so that was checked off my list early but still lots left for me to do.

Anyways I ordered the 99 front end parts a couple months ago, but never got around to installing it. Last week I ordered and recieved stillen type III rockers and door fillers, so I figured I’m fitting those anyways might aswell do the front.

I also killed my tires within 2 weeks of getting the car, from a combination of burnouts, donuts and misalignment. Since I was spending cash on tires I decided if they are going to wear its going to be because of me killing them, not my camber. So in went the other suspension components, being AMS upper front control arms, AMS rear control arms and AMS tension rods. those paired with tein coilovers in the rear and buddyclub upfront. Then since I was at AMS anyways I decided to go ahead and get the AMS race style blowoff valve kit, which i dont have any pics of but they sound awesome.

Around the same time the tires went the front brakes were metal on metal, so I had to order replacments, I went with the EBC cross drilled and slotted rotors whith greenstuff pads. They dont stay as pretty as they are out of the box (compare below to above).

Apart from those the car already had intake and exhaust and a mine’s ecu which i had rechipped witha Z1 stage 3 chip and addition of boost jets. That was about the end of the story for the clutch within 2-3 weeks of install. The rest of the work into the car has been the audio setup and then repairs/maintaining, had to do most of my tie rods so I just decided to do all of them, inner and outer front and rear at 59000 kms.

Also had fun replacing a couple of injectors I killed so needless to say I will be upgrading to the newer style setup. they werent fun to do without removing the manifold.

That’s all I’ve got done so far, the car is going to be lowered more this weekend then, the alignment will be done. I need to send my front and sides in for paint.

then apart from those before the car comes back out it needs:
t28s
intercoolers
injectors
clutch/flywheel
driveshaft
dual intake
turbo manifolds
downpipes/testpipes
front tires
rear brakes
and a few body moldings and seals.

alot of those things dont NEED to be done the only things i do need would be clutch and flywheel, injectors and the moldings and seals

but hey alot of those parts are easier to do at the same time, turbos and manifolds are much easier with the tranny out, which is enough to convince me not to do it twice.

But yeah that’s how my car’s coming along let me know what you guys think

Kevin

nice… I have those rotors for my S14. Slotted and dimpled…

looking good… how much did you pay for her?

Looks good man. I got my skyline now so at the next GTRC/TNC meet better see that beast there haha.

car isnt going out agian til like june

nice ride man … have your tried the new setup yet ? How did it go ?

yeah but it already had the coilovers in before I parked it as for the alignment parts havent really driven it enough to notice a difference I’m sure it would help for obvious reasons caster and camber
