I hate the sight of my front license plate on the bumper. So I’m gonna relocate it to the grill like some of the members oh my350z.com. But $40 + 2 weeks of shipping is gonna be a bitch. Looking at the design, it looks like a bunch of metal bolted together. So I’m gonna drop by home depot later today and see if I can ghetto rig a bracket to fit my license plate in. I’ll post up pics and info if I do make one.
Couple questions came in mind…
By placing it in the front grill, would this disrupt the flow to rad and power steering cooler? The stock plates were already blocking the upper half of the certain portion…
There’s two holes on the bumper, how do people usually take care of that? Bumper plugs honestly looks ugly. I just want something to fill it in and harden then touch up paint on it…
Oh a piss off is that the stock bracket left not just two holes from the bolts. It also left an imprint of 2 circles and a rectangular line along the shape of bracket paint scratched off!
partsource and crappy tire both have license frame brackets that cost about 1.50-2.00 i bought one and modded it to fit on my vents. its not too hard to do. if you can take your bumper off and bring it here i’ll do it for you as long as you bring me timmies. lol
when i bring my gtr out i’ll show you guys what i did with mine. its very easy and cheap to do. as long as you have a drill preferablly something small like a rotary tool all the peices will cost you about $5 tax included. lol
I went to part source today to look at the bracket assas1n was talking about. It wont work. Although you could make it with with some ghetto-riggin on that bracket plate. It still wont look good enough.
So I went to home depot and picked up some brackets and 4" long bolts w/nuts for holding the together. I’ll finish it today and take some pics…
4" bolts are actually overkill… i should exchange for 3"…
the bracket is similar to the Zee-bracket found on www.mynismo.com, search on their site for it. It does not use tow hook, and mine definitely won’t require drilling the front grill.
I’m in class now, I got the bracket shaped and getting ready to drill holes on the bracket to fit license plate in. I’ll finish after class.
Hey guys, JUST finished… was fixing up the paint that the OEM bracket did to my bumper
Here’s a couple of pics to give you guys an idea of what the bracket is like…
Yeah I mounted my license plate cover as test fit, not my license plate due to … some stalkers around the forum
It’s mounted on right now, but I haven’t gotten any pics. I’ll take some after my flashlight battery finishes charging… it’s too dark in the garage and I’m too lazy to roll it out since my mom’s car is blocking me.
Alright, I got some pics of the bracket on the car. But the problem is, I can’t mount my license plate on yet due to the bolt being too short… Didn’t account for the stock bolts to reach past the bumper to the grill… You’ll see what I mean in the pictures.
For the Z owners… GET RID OF THAT DAMN OEM BRACKET. Upon taking off mine, I found two holes and two circle imprints and a bunch of scratches and paint cracks from the stress of the OEM ones…
It’s my winter car. Ever since getting the license suspended, I haven’t been able to take the car out to wash it. I feel sad…
But thank goodness for ALUMINUM UNDERBODY!!!.. although some steel parts and steel bolts are starting to rust. AHH I GOTTA WORRY ABOUT QUARTER PANEL TOO!!! WHY DiDN"T NISSAN MAKE THEM ALUMINUM???
As for fenders… i dont care about those… they rust, it’s an excuse to get the CF ones
OR u could just fill the holes and rock no front plate… Looks so much cleaner, but i guess in a city like Toronto theres more chances to harrassed by the local law inforcement.
Seee, all we did was have the shop fill the holes and repaint the bumper.
