350 or 383 sbc

Im looking to build a motor for the TA, what would be better a 350 or 383?
any advantages/disadvantages?
possible HP estimations?

don’t build one, buy mine.

350 with vortec heads. lt1 roller cam, performer rpm intake. less than 5k on rebuild. $800

^^^ do it, you’ll get plenty of power out of that

a 383 is not for anyone wanting a mild setup. Those motors like to breathe so plan on spending atleast 5grand to make some power

honestly…buy eurodads, its a good set up, and if u want a lil more, do a cam change…if ur goign to build a motor set up, then go 383

383, most expenseive are the heads, honestly get a kit anywhere now that supplies the short block ness. 350(anywhere) Boring .30(25.00 per cly) heads nice set of 2.02 (1k) can be built for under 3.5k, also I have heads and a complete 383 FS. if interested.

any good 383 goes 400hp and up but not saying a 350 beefed up, cant but 383 are TQ monsters. which is a nice thing. if interested I have 3 build sheets for 3 383’s I could email you, that I have sitting in the garage.

a cam in my motor will make 400hp easy.

yep I agree, no replacement like displacment. one thing I would bet on though you take the same cam and test in both motors 383 will prevail, also I like to base the motors of the heads I think thats the most important piece, but eveything is plays its role aswell.

I just am biased to the 383, have no disappointments.

no shit, damn your smart.

if your not a serious racer, then the cost of a 383 is not worth the 20-50 extra hp.

383 can net way more then 20-30 more HP. Not on a serious level either. on I would like to see a 350 with a .300 lift cam produce 400+hp

read much?

that mean u want $800 for it?

here is a gm zz4 350/385hpwith fast burn heads and a 208/221 .474/.510 cam

and a gm zz4 383/425hp with fast burn heads and a 222/230 .509/.528 cam

40 hp differnce from a motor with a bigger cam. wonder what it would have been with the same cam?yep the 350 would have been just over 400hp

oh wait here’s a 350 with a cam closer in size to the 383.

its a gm zz4 350/430hp fast burn heads and a 218/228 .525/.525
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/1578/products/257896/Fast-Burn-385-w-LT4-Hot-Cam-Upgrade-High-Performance-Series-Turn-Key-Crate-Engine.htm

here’s two motors, where the 350 makes more.

yep 800 bucks takes it. it’s in my truck now. see it run drive it, you want it i’ll pull it out. maybe deliver it too for gas money.

if your looking to spend 800 then thats a good start. ,

euro, you stated that a 383 only gets you a 20-30 greater diff,

Which is false, a moderate 350, vs a moderate 383 will be more then a 20-30 diff, pick a book and read.

your not comapering apples to apples, your take the highest potential for the 350, vs the lowest for the 383. fast burh heads are junk. Now lets do some real compare.

First buying any of those motors are junk the heads are crap…

Go on AFR’s site… 383 vs 350
big difference 350ci(400hp)383ci(603)

Thats compare the extreme vs the extreme.

for the record I have had a zz4 does not put out 385, inflated numer dyno test and proven 310hp still have the sheets if you would like to look. Dont believe eveything you read from GM also if you call and tell them about they seem to already know that and give various excuses why this is…

I would spend the 800 lt1 great start.

eurodads engine is a good deal and it sounds gret.

can you read??? i said 20-50. every comparison i seen is within those numbers on similar motors.
