yea cant say i agree on trading in your top notch awd winter car for a rabbit

Next think you know he’ll be finishing the bimmer :banghead:

I’m not sure why people act shocked that it’s possible to get good money for your trade and a good price on the new car.

Yes, dealers will try and use 4 square math to make you think you’re getting good money for your trade by inflating one of the other squares, but you don’t have to accept it. Go in knowing what your trade is worth, what the new car you want is worth, what kind of financing you can get and what kind of monthly payment you expect. That covers all 4 squares so when they start trying to increase the car cost to make up for increasing your trade in value you can call them on their BS.

I got a great trade in value on my old Tracker when I got my Ranger. I knew what the Tracker was worth and what the Ranger was worth and kept walking away from the deal until they finally got the numbers where I wanted them. Buying a 2wd Ranger in February helped too because the dealer was desperate to move that vehicle. Right now their pretty desperate to move any vehicle and a buyer with A credit has all kinds of buying power.

why not awd? don’t you live in buffalo?

i’m looking at a few 08 impreza wagons. I really like the interior on the rabbits, though.

to tell you the truth, my gti on hakkaplietas wasn’t much worse than my current wrx on wintersport m3’s.

they are pretty sure footed on snow.
But, i think newman is making a good choice, his insurance will decrease tenfold on the rabbit, not to mention gas, maintenance, interest rate on his wrx…ect ect.

i’m not sold on anything yet. But i was looking for used rabbits and they’re only around 1000 less vs new.

I honestly think that awd is NOT needed in Buffalo.
unless you are driving out to ski areas…

AWD can only help get you moving… often the real problem is stopping.

4 year 50k mile warranty on the vw. Not too shabby for a $15-$17k car. If you care at all, VW’s always score at the top of their classes in safety/crash tests.

no they dont. they are selling shitloads of cars to shitloads of people. its the small percentage of elitists that say this sort of thing about a hugely successful car company that is still selling cars in this economy.

there are alot more people out there that just want a car to drive here and there and be reliable than there are fussy so-called car enthusiasts. say what you want about their owners but they saved money and they are usually pretty satisfied.

id rock that genesis with some pipes. that thing sounded mean. i liked the azera when it came out too. comfy, loads of options, huge trunk etc. i got hassled by the dealer guys when i climbed in the trunk to see how large it was.

Brian

buy a used wrangler and come spring time lift it and put 33’s on er… best idea yet!

If I had your money, I’d still get a matrix/vibe…

A black or white one loaded up…

I’d get one with automatic and awd…

My buddy has a new rabbit, it wouldn’t work for me as a DD but it did seem like a well put together car.

cky is selling his 06 gti stage 2 w/36k pm me if interested in that… About the same price as a new rabbit but you can still have fun and not hate the car in 2 weeks =)

now thats funny…

i guess the fwd. going 25mph in a blizzard will stop faster than me in my awd at 75 on the same road at the same time.

i like to be able to get out of the way of the sliding asshats who think all season tires work on snow.

i actually think the new white vibes advance auto is rocking looks decent… w/toyota resale. & reliabliity…

Fixed

??? I’m confused, what are you disputing? there are two variables AWD and all season tires in your example.

and I define failure in life as having to drive a vibe. so ugly.

You only need awd in buffalo like 4 days a year, its not like newman is a md and has to get places, fwd drive with snows is more than enough.

I am trying to figure out why you want to get rid of the sti? You are going to save 6k in the short term, but if you keep the car for let’s say 2 years the sti will depriciate a lot less than a rabbit.

That is also 2 years you don’t have to be seen driving a rabbit. Keep your sti you will lose more money buying a rabbit.

STi won’t accept my drum kit and gets only 16mpg.

Not that fuel economy is a huge concern. Plus i feel like the rabbit has less chance of being broken in to in the city.

Also the STi is a cop magnet.

PS: how was your flight?
