0 % (zero percent) yes San Diego

I used to live in Riverside county and I had to expierence these fires regularly.Unfortunatly my Sister lives out there and is extremely scared for her and her kids. She lives in military housing and they will not let that nieghborhood evacuate yet.I don’t know why seeing how the fire is only about 20 miles North of her.It is really hard right now with my Brother inlaw serving his country in Iraq so she is in a panic right now.

As far as I am concerned all this can be avoided if they would remove the brush and practice some controled fires instead of letting it dry out.At least keep it clear a certian amount of miles away from the house’s.It’s not hard seeing how 75% of the population is in some sort of valley.

a whale’s vagina?

I was going to ask, can’t anything be done about this? Why not cut down 6 acres of brush around your house? How can people not see this coming? Is there no way to have the wildlife/green police on top of this? Sucks bad though. MicaH that picture is great, all that comes to mind is impeding doom for some reason.

Ya of course the brush can be cleared. But California does not prepare for this kind of thing. It is kinda like the old saying.“If it aint broke don’t fix it.”

“Well if it aint on fire don’t give it a second thought.”

But as far as I am concerned every state trys to avoid spending money. So because the state of California thought it would be a good idea to put this dry brush off and save money they are going to pay out the ass for all those firefighters working 24 hour shifts.

And to think I am moving back in 7 months.:roll2:

everything is pretty crazy, a lot of my co-workers had to leave work to evacuate all their stuff. there was a small brush fire less than a mile from my house that was contained, but the witch fire is out of control.

there is one north of me, and one south of me. if those come down into the valley then i’ll start getting worried. all i can really do is wait and see. pics to come tomorrow.

Sounds as if you live there.I hope the best for you and whatever family and friends you may have also in this situation.I understand the severity of the situation and fully understand your concerns.Last I heard the fire was in Miramar/Chula vista and Tecta??

just got back from driving around a bit, kind of a eriee orange glow up north more past some of the hills. like kyle said we are pretty much surrounded from the north, south and east and it spreads so fast with the crazy winds. its crazy how the whole area, even away from the fires are all smokey. something like 100,000 acres burned by 5pm and 250,000 ppl evactuated.

i’m right in the middle where it says, “Navajo, Murray, Spring.” so kind of right in the middle. like i said, if they come down into the valley, then i’m fucked. more updates tomorrow, thanks everyone for asking throughout the day if i’m alright.

last i heard was 145k acres for the witch fire alone, 36 miles x 18 miles.
20k & 22k each for two other fires.

5% contained.
