My fiances kid hauler has been acting up lately. When she is driving it the engine shuts down and the DIC spits out engine disabled/reduced engine power. when she tries to start it back up the DIC says starting disabled. it doesn’t start right away, it would take up to 10 minutes to start again. The “stalling” happens at any speed (highway, city, backing out of the driveway and blocking the whole street.)
Upon some research it could be either the BCM or the Throttle Body.
This is probably of no use whatsoever to you but when my wifey drove a 1995 Lumina it would have starting issues all the time. I drove myself nuts trying to find spark and fuel issues when the crappy chip on the key was the issue the entire time. We started using a different key and it ran like a top.
I think they call it Pass-Key or whatever. Worth a shot!
I made some psuedo progress. Luckily, the van stalled in my driveway while i was reading the owners manual. the “starting disabled” message that shows up on the DIC means a issue with the throttle body…awesome i know have something to work with. Fast forward to today, i installed a new TB hoping that this will resolve the issue. I had the engine running while i was installing new wiper blades, it stalled out quite ferociously. after cycling the key (DIC still staying starting disabled) a few times it started up again but i now have a CEL!!! I didnt have my scan tool with me to see what it is. I will post tomorrow the code and any more results
