06 350z roadster tach issues

quick questions, just bought a 06 roadster, and it drives really good, but when driving the rpm guage doesnt’ function properly, really slow and runs choppy, but when off gear and rev the engine it works perfectly, can someone tell me what might be the issue and if its a simple fix?
