Hey guys,

I know I really don’t post here much, but I did want to let you guys know of an unfortunate incident I had last Saturday…

My car, though rusty as a hell went from this:

We were just coming home from Standard Auto Wreckers and took 5th Concession, hoping to get off at Westney and go home.

I was driving at around 60-65 km/h, the road was wet and dry, somewhat patchy, at the same time, very unmaintained. It was very bumpy. Going down the hill, I turned right and the rear end of the car bounced and wanted to come around. I countersteered but by that time, the front end of the car was already headed toward the hillside. I was hoping that the car would either crash or climb up the hill, but instead, it climbed at an angle and just rolled over. The car fell on the rear passenger-side corner and then rolled over on the passenger side (as you can tell by the passenger pillars being bent). We slid down the hill for a good couple of meters until we finally stopped. I was stuck in my seatbelt and too far in the back of the car to reach the steering wheel. I pushed on the roof of the car (now on the ground) to take my weight off the seatbelt and unclipped it.

I couldn’t get the door opened so I rolled down the window and kicked it out. I got out and no one was there, turned around, no one still. Turned back the other way and saw a guy in a gray VW Jetta. He had a green shirt on and was calling 911. I looked in the car to try to get my dad out, but I couldn’t get to him. I looked around again and saw people coming from the top of the hill. One lady was a registered nurse. I looked down at the car and miraculously, my dad was able to free himself and get out.

My dad was bleeding from the back of the head, as well as the left side of his face. He couldn’t get up, so we told him to stay down and gave him warm clothing and covered the wounds with shirts. A while later, a cop car came in, followed by a firetruck and then an ambulance. A second ambulance came a little while later…

Here’s a brief breakdown of the incident:

The road looks so simple and basic, but its unforgiving in the rain…

You can read the full thread that my buddy posted up here on SON: http://www.son240sx.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39317

The reason I wanted to post this here is because I was having a conversation with my buddy on MSN and it sparked this interest: what if the guy who owns the impound lot rips shit off the remains of my car, then takes salvageable parts off and tries to sell it?

I’m only saying this because the guy who OWNS the impound lot has two 240SX’s. Both of them being pignoses like mine. One is his race car, the other is his parts car. None of his car has lips or the rare CDM sideskirts (urethane, the real deal, no FG).

As well, my engine only has about 98,000 km’s, the interior is still mint, minus the accident damaged areas. Everything is still intact, front calipers, pads and rotors, as well as end links all around are BRAND NEW. There’s also a Viper 5002 alarm still in the car. The front tires are also brand new BFG Traction T/A’s with less than 1000 km’s on them.

I’m not out to hunt someone, I just want to make sure that this guy doesn’t cheat people out.

I mean, my dad almost lost his life in this crash, insurance left us with nothing, they would NOT surrender the car to us, and wouldn’t even provide a settlement. I don’t want my dad’s injuries to go unnoticed while this creep rips shit off my car…

Anyway, here’s the location of the rollover:

as far as I know its your car till you get money for it…your name is on the ownership right???

soo its your car.

they haveto pay you for it or “release you” from having to pay the deductable…you can refuse the deducatble “release” and its your car

a friend of mine wrote off an almost new car and refused everything saying the car was his and he wouldn’t take just a few hundred for the car.
hi policy made no comments about surrendering the car in the case of a write off ( makes a big difference )

so he had it towed home
removed the motor etc sold them off for 15X what he would have gotten from the insurance.

but he had all of his ducks ina row… proper insurance full coverage full disclosure etc etc etc he shopped out the policy too.
he wanted the “only new, dealer parts”, “full replacement value” etc etc insurance…not cheap but on a brand new high end car he had no intention of getting fkd by the insurance bastards.

but he has the money anyway… I sure dont have the cash for that kinda insurance, or car

it was a 94 supra…about 6 months old when he crashed it.
he changed to a Lexus family car after…lol guess it was too much car

I know, it still is “my car”. For coverage, insurance would NOT put any coverage on it. They said that the car was too old and not worth anything. The only thing it was insured for was liability.

In my opinion, its utter BS. I’m just happy to say that we’re both alive… Though it was my first “real” car, our first engine swap (old engine spun a rod at 266k, new engine before the accident had 95-96k). We were also a few weeks off from doing the 5 speed swap, as well. I had everything except the clutch and driveshaft (though someone offered me one, in which I didn’t get the chance to reply).

All I can do is start over… Cars can be replaced. People can’t…

Glad to see that you are ok. Sorry about the car though.
You can ask for full coverage even if they don’t offer it due to the age of the vehicle. Ask your insurance company and tell them you want to cover the car for Theft and Fire.

Theft and Fire coverage has to be full coverage so they will go ahead and give you the full coverage. Please keep this in mind though. In order for them to do Theft and Fire coverage, They will need to arrange a full inspection of the vehicle.

hey man all that really matters is that you and your dad are alright… sorry to see your car in that shape dude
