+1 for hatchbacks today

the locks on my car were so goddamn frozen (de-icer didnt work, using a lighter didnt work) that i had to crawl in through the hatch, after wrestling it open

hatches win this morning, thats for sure

lmfao, yea hatches! even tho i cant get mine running yet :frowning:

+1 spd dmn

my locks froze a while back, lighter didnt work, ended up snapping a spare key. So i went to tim hortons and splashed some of my coffee on the side. That worked out pretty well… till the cofee froze 2 hours after… Hatches win!

i washed my car just to be cool then whe n i got out for a minute u hit the lock button by accedent with the car off and music pumpin then my batterie died any wayz in the end my locks where so frozen i had to open the hatch with my lucky spare key and clim in then a cop asked what i was doing quite amusing to the cop

best way is pee on your key hole:D always works

God I had to do that a billion times when I had my DSM. The locks permanently seized from non-use, so when the racing battery died…all the fuckin time I had to hatch commando it.

i did the exact same thing a couple weeks back. the hatch is soooooo clutch

Try dipping the key in the water or put it in the hole halfway and than splash the water in…works for me all the time lol. Hatches are key though.

I just carry a ligher with me and heat up the key before i put it in. and it usually works.

if you drop a cap full of this in the lock it will release in seconds…

for the win lol!

peace

bad idea especially when its -20 outside. the idea is to get the water out … not in.

lighter +1

The only thing bad about it really is your going to need to carry hot water on you all the time after lol.

i have never had a problem with my locks freezing in the winter in my coupe. opens like butter even in -25 degree weather.

+1 for coupes, booh-ya

:frowning: I hope mine doesn’t do that… I’m getting it fixed this weekend

to get your locks to not freeze you can spray brake cleaner into the hole and wiggle your key around to get the ice out and stop it from freezing. If you do this you have to lubricate the lock again once the spring comes cause you would have gotten rid of all the oil and it will rust if you dont. just a suggestion

i saw the hot rod yesterday

keyless entry… now thats clutch!

Jay

Dry graphite spray ftw

last time it happened, was @ the Seneca parking lot
…was about to go thru the hatch!!

but it opened after one last nudge. :stuck_out_tongue: now I spray Rust Check in the keyhole and work in it with my key, no problems since!

happened to me once, but i couldnt go through the hatch since my hatch lock is seized, has been since i bought it.
did the ol fashion, gently pull on windowand slid hanger through to open the door… then get this… i open it unlock it with out a problem… now its frozen open(unlocked)… good thing im not driving it this winter or i would of taken it to get an oil change just hopin it might thaw in a heated shop.
