$104,000 insurance premium for 240sx

I just saw this, read the article and started to laugh.

EDMONTON - Barbara Wellensiek knew her son’s insurance bill would be steep because of his driving record, but when the renewal notice arrived she was shocked to see the annual premium was $104,566.63.

240sx insurance for a kid in edmonton

What do you think?

Sucks to be him. I think the journalist writing the article gave the kid too much credit as is haha.

Haha, he should get a G coupe. My insurance is actually less than what I paid for my S13

Insurance for 240s are so high because of wannabe drifters who keep crashing.

I bet that if insurance companies were to read what we talk about in car chat, all of us would not be able to afford insurance.

What did they expect honestly, his old premium was $1300 a month/$15600 a year.

This quote is jokes:

“Moped!? I wouldn’t let his ass drive a golf ball. Driving is a privilege not a right.
And when his dumb ass goes sailing through his car’s windshield from impact after f*cking around on public streets I hope two things for him:
a) he doesn’t hurt or kill anyone else.
b) he keeps his arms at his sides to maintain proper form on exit”

how?
is it full insurance?
or just liability?

are you listed as primary driver as well?

that’s kind of odd to be honest…unless the geography had a huge impact when you moved

I had only liability on the S13, and now I have full coverage on the G. Apparently the biggest difference was that I had my own policy for my S13, and the new company counted my driving experience differently because of it. I also have my own policy for the G now. The price is actually almost the same, the reason why I said it’s cheaper for the G, is because that’s full coverage, and I had liability only on the S13. It is a fantastic car for insurance purposes though, everything else sporty that I priced was significantly more to insure.

s13’s are’nt bad on insurance I pay 250$ a month but than again my record is completely clean, but civics I heard are like 400-500 a month.

Consider that I pay under 350 a month for full coverage on a 2005 G35 Coupe, with an at fault accident on my record.

What I find interesting is that they offered that high premium, instead of refusing to insure him.

i dont know what u guys go thru but my insurance on my 91’ 240 wat $90 a month for liability
i also have a dd (92’ 4 dr civic) and that is $107 so i pay less fo the 240
im 25 and have 1 ticket, and an accident but not on record yet

I found out that the insurance on my '95 240 is less than the same year 4-door honda civic… (both under my name of course). That doesn’t make sense at all to me, but I’m not gonna complain

your insurance premiums drastically reduce on and after the age of 25

but then…i feel insurance companies are all scammers…
i mean…
i got asked for an appraisel for my car. BUT I was just getting libaility insurance…why the hell do i need my car appraised if i’m not getting comprehensive??

we need more insurance companies in ontario competing for our business…
need to drive down premiums

The only legit tricks i used were.

  • occasional driver (weekends and evenings; not to work /school)
  • I’m listed as residing in Waterloo which = a cut of 30%

and i’m paying 200 a month with a 10 over and an at fault collision (which is being appealed.

hehe 220 a month for nissan and Legacy full coverage and that will drove about $100 a month in July

im lucky, my 93 cadi and my 90 240, i pay 212$ a month and im only 19, totaly clean record though

$65 a month full insurance… on a 92 coupe… hahahaha

$115, one at fault, basic coverage on my '91 hatch.

I think his mother needs a kick in the head and he needs to not have his license.

wow… that sucks the big one
youd think hed learn his lesson and go to tracks instead
…or buy a police scanner or something =P

preferably the first one

I know a couple guys that were paying over $1200 for Vipers, M5s and Supras and I thought that was outrageous.

Don’t most ppl just register in BC and get protected by ICBC rates.

Insurance companies dont understand it only promotes uninsured driving. They have a huge prob with that in the US, uninsured mexican illegals, they can’t get insurnace or its astronomical. They tag you after a few too many Coronas too bad for you and your insurnace company.
