lol so if i dont think i will ever get the HD service one would say i would be safe with a 46"-52" 720p?
the most HD I will get is a PS3 just b/c the only way i am getting a tv is if it comes with it
so plasma does not have the 1080p or anything … what do you look for in that?

I thought bluray is 1080p… his TV (or bluray player) is just down converting it.

WTF
The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a home video game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The successor to the PlayStation 2, it is part of the PlayStation brand of consoles. It was first released on November 11, 2006, in Japan, November 17, 2006, in North America, and March 23, 2007, in Europe and Australia. The PlayStation 3 competed primarily against Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.
The console was first of...
the new PS3’s aren’t PS2 compatible… that is fucking bullshit…
you will be fine with 720p. But being that you have a PS3 already with a bluray player… why cheap out if you have the player capabilities to play 1080p

Yes. I had a HDTV in college and the only thing it was good for was Xbox 360. The shitty campus cable looked worse IMO on the HDTV. There is some decent digital programming out there but if you don’t plan on getting HD service, there is no point to pay for 1080p.
Just my $0.02
Thats what I thought too. Just wanted to make sure. I would have been shocked if BluRay only was 1080i.
Ya. I personally can see the shadow on a LCD screen for games and movies. Some people cant. Some people see things they like and dont like that might drive the next person away.
Just go to a store and look. You cant buy something you are going to watch daily without seeing it.

well the 1080p was the reason why it won over HD-DVD (which was only 720p) iirc It wouldn’t make sense to have 1080i tech beat 720p lol for no reason. and being at 25 (single) 50GB (dual) lol
even if you get the TV. . and dont want to spend the stupid amoutn of money TW or Dish wants for HD service.
make one of these.
guys here at work made them and they work wonders w/no cable/dish for local channels in HD.

Welp i went to bestbuy and got a 50 inch plasma 720p for 800.
The upsell:
$300 insurance? No thanks
$150 surge protector and energy saver. No thanks
$160 wall mounts. No thanks I already have that.
$250 for geek squad to “optimize” my tv. They will reduce electricity usage as well as reduce heat and make the image 4x more sharp.
Is this a joke? Why wouldnt they do this at the factory if they are trying to sell the most clear image?

Exactly. Definatly not for $250.
But, he did show me the exact same 2 tvs next to each other and it did cut the heat down by about half (which is still a lot).
