Shouldn’t manually shift that Trans.
I had seen that u were there but I never got to see what u ran. I was there with maters dad tryin to get his blazer ready for this year.
Like I said was just trying different things out.
Ahh…yeah I saw the blazer run once. Ran like a 11.5 or something around there? Hes trying to hit 9s isnt he?
yeah he went 11.40 and then did a back to back 10.90 and 2 of those passes were off idle at launch. We put in a new 350 turbo and a circle d 5500 stall. The tranny is a reverse valve body so he’s just tryin to get used to it. I have the timing backed up so its not even close to where it was last year. He did try the trans brake once but his tires are shot from his john force burnouts he did last year and he ended uo with a 2. something 60ft. Once we get the back lowered more, his new tires in and he gets used to the new tranny he should beable to hit histimes he wants. Last year he went 10.30 NA with a shitty powerglide and a 4000 stall. Were in the stages of tryin to tran an old dog new tricks lol
there’s nothing wrong with that thats how u learn.
Truck should wake up with the deeper first gear of the 350 trans. Thats a good bit of converter but a bit better than the 4000 for that motor. Good luck with it.
Ran a best of 12.16 @ 112 I think with 12psi in the tires. When we got there it was 91 degrees and humid, so the attitude that night was to just have fun and try different rpm launches and manually shifting.
Surprised you have to run that low tire pressure with those tires. My ET’s never had to go below 15-16psi. How old are those tires?
5500 is what circle d recommended hopefully there right lol
Yeah the run I saw he didnt have traction til about the 1/8 mile lol. Cant wait to see it come out more this year, its a nasty lil truck.
Ive had to run 14 psi or below with them. They are a little old…manufactured the 24th week of 02’…
Thats probably why. AFter 2 seasons on my tires, they start to hook worse and require longer burnouts til they just wont grab at PRP. Brand new tires hook with just about no burnout.
I do do longer burnouts compared to everyone else. When I tried running 15 psi I did short burnouts like everyone else and spun through 1st every time, and it got worse after the tune. Maybe I should try 16 psi and long burnouts, and I may hook?
IF it barely hooks on 12 and long burnout i dont think 16 psi will help Start to play with shocks and springs if the tires still feel pretty soft and sticky but they could be drying out.
It hooks well at 12 and a decent burnout. And depending on track prep it hooks at 14 and a good burnout. I may TRY 16 with a long burnout just to see what happens. The tires were used for a handful of passes before I bought them, and have been in a basement for the time they werent being used. They feel pretty soft…no dry rot or anything either.
Uh not looking forward to replacing rear springs haha. I should ask Laura how old the shocks/springs are…struts too.
Rear springs on 4th gens are EASY (3rd gens too…). jackstands under frame, unbolt shocks, allow rear to drop, springs practically fall out (i’m oversimplifing, but not too much). BTW, I am the one with the white formula convertible. It was nice to get 5 runs, hope it happens next time as well.
I know they arent difficult…I like to complain haha. Good seeing your post on here lol.
Well tonight for the most part was a success, and alot of fun. I did a few things today before hitting up the track.
- Sanded TB (Was rough to the touch)
- Removed Muffler & Tips (Weld broke so I pulled it down for now)
- Swapped UMI Solid LCAs from my 86’ to the 00’
And tonight I beat my 12.12 best time a total of 8 times. I did a best pass of 12.0035 @ 112.58 which I am stoked about! Solid LCA’s looks like it dropped my 60ft down .04 from my best. Still garbage 60fts, and not really happy with 1/4 MPH, but its on the tip of the ice to break 11s. I actually got to run a total of 14 passes tonight which was sweet. One thing I am certain of after tonight is my shift points need raised. All of my best passes tonight were done by manually shifting. It was a test that worked. Leaving it in 3 I ran a best of 12.28 tonight. Riding it out that few more hundred rpms got me to a few 12.0xx passes.
Ill upload the vids most likely tomorrow after work.
Make a few passes in better air and you’ll be there.
So close man, almost there. Abit more 60 foot work and you have it
I know man. For next time Im gonna swap the solid panhard bar from my 86’ to the 00’ and hang the sway bar. Hopefully that helps my 60’ a bit more. Its soooo close lol. As soon as I hit 11s Ill be starting on my truck project, and doing small things here and there to this car. New cam will probably be something Ill do this winter.
I’d say remove all the seats but you already did that
