1926 Arts & Crafts House Project Thread

OFFER ACCEPTED 11/30/12. SALE PENDING.

Clearly, I am terrible with updating project threads…sorry.

First page has been updated with completed projects.

I have been rather busy with the house over the past 15 months. list of things done:

All new Windows
Full Bathroom remodel
Master Bedroom Closets/Vanity/Crown/Paint
Family Room Recessed Lighting/Fireplace Tile/Crown/Paint
SunRoom Crown/Paint
Refinished hardwood floors
Driveway Gate
Additional kitchen cabinets/counter
Electrical subpanel
Exterior uplighting

It’s a 1926 Arts & Crafts House with 3 finished floors and 4 Bed/2.5Bath. A little over 2100 Sq.ft. which does not include the 3rd floor. Has some updates done already but the previous owners did some half ass work that I will have to fix or it will drive me insane.

House is in the Park Meadow area right near Delaware Park.

Looks like a nice house with great character. Does it have a basement?
Congrats.

Great looking house!

Yes. With 9ft. ceilings.

Love everything… minus the tv placement in the yellow room. my neck hurts thinking about watching it

Agreed. 54" is going above fireplace.

fucking baller shit.

at least youre a lot closer to the pit now

Not what I pictured when I read arts and crafts but very nice anyway.

Wow, I like that.

Is that some sort of salvador dali painting or do you have two staircases going up and one really skinny one going down?

Servant staircase

Exactly. My house is a lot like this one, and we have made our servant stairs into a pantry downstairs and a linen closet upstairs.

So Baller, Congrats again Mike.

Fuck that. Get servants.

inside of the house is awesome, except that TV

I HATE that they went so modern in the kitchen with such an old, full of character house. Also hate those stupid wire lights they put up. I love the rest of the house, though. Very nice!

The white plastic back splash…that extends above the hood, the chicken plates on display in an otherwise modern theme, the awkward TV. The whole thing just needs a little Jaeger loving. It’s like 85% awesome, but just hasn’t come together yet.

yes, I have faith it can be saved!

What gets me the most is the white paint on all of the wood work. Under that is some beautiful wood that someone decided should be bland and white. I am fortunate that all of my original wood work was left alone and easily cleaned up.

I do think that the white and the color go together and look very clean, but I like the more classical craftsman style that the original wood would have created.
