You sure do like interesting cars.
So random, so awesome. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
That interior looks pretty neat. Good luck with the build, Joe.
Want a hand with it Joe?
Lemme know. You have my number.
cool project!
Coolness factor
How did it make it to the US?
Saw this one in person when we went to France.
That is one of my favs in the “barn”
This was the one I drove quite a bit in Salt Lake. Absolute, complete riot to drive. Even more so than the modded grey market 930 we had there.
Woah…congrats on the pickup, Joe! Different for sure…can’t wait to see in person
Interesting…I like it.

Is it “bone stock”…? Are those aftermarket fog lamps?
Yep, all factory, fogs included…
Awesome. I was hoping there was no wiring issues on this thing. I’d imagine it would be next to impossible to get schematics on this if we ever had to debug something.
Not that is couldn’t be done…it would just take a while.
Haha, I know…I’m sure there will be tons of issues to sort…hoping they are all small though…will def. call you once I have it in the garage…
Sweet. One of my dream cars.
By the way, skyway auto parts might have spares for this thing.
If anyplace had one, thats where it would be.
Its a u pull yard too.
I think this car needs to be nominated for a free detail giveaway…
No, not because it is moss covered.
Not because it is French American.
Not because Joe is better about losing the last poll.
Yes, because it’s white and white is better than red.
Is skyway still open? I heard they were closed or under new ownership which wouldnt be a bad thing. They were always a pain to deal with and overpriced.
They were bought my Metallico and will supposedly stay pretty much the same. One of the old owners is still working there. They are bringing in a lot more cars but the cool old stuff is still there. They are always hit or miss on prices. I know there were a bunch of old Renaults but I can’t remember what models.
Hey all, so a little update here:
In the time it took to have the car shipped to me and now, we looked over the car very thoroughly and came to the conclusion that this car was (as is often the case with a 25+ year old car…) a little rougher around the edges than we had hoped, once the layers of the onion started getting peeled away…
No big deal. We got a great deal on it, and it’s worth in parts is well beyond what we paid for it…it’s just not financially worth “saving” this shell…
So the ? remained, what do we do…part it out and make some money, or try to find a cleaner shell (which is almost impossible)?
Naturally, being car people (and gluttons for punishment), we sought out a new shell…
And we hit a home run.
Updates to follow, but here are the cliffs:
Original owner, 1983 Renault Alliance “Motor Trend” COTY Edition # 2699 (these cars are numbered, only 3,000 were made, and only in '83, the first year), 61K original miles, stored in a climate controlled garage for the last 20 years (started and run every 6 months). Car runs like a dream and drives perfect. We were so unbelievably fortunate to find this car…especially so soon, as we were not aggressively searching…
Again, updates coming soon…
WHUT?
