From my understanding, that’s why there was no 2000 Cobra (other than the Cobra R). They basically wanted to get their shit straight and fix their “oops” during 2000 model year and then come out with a Cobra again in 2001.
I’m not sure what they actually did when they performed the recall, but I think I remember something about the intake. I could be way off, lol.
I give Ford credit for manning up and taking care of the problem the right way, by giving people the power they were supposed to have from the beginning. Didn’t Mazda have a similar problem with the RX8’s? I think they were originally rated like 255 or so, but people started dynoing them and they made shit for power. Mazda ended up changing the horsepower rating to around 238 and then offered to buy back the cars if people didn’t want them.
